03:50<dpkg>DM means Display Manager, the app that brings up a graphical login screen and starts your login session. <xdm>, <gdm>, <kdm>, <wdm>, pdm, and are all examples of display managers. Ask me about <nodm> if you want to disable the DM.
03:50<zagawaga>I loaded into single user, it did the whole booting process, and got stuck on the same thing..

03:52-!-mode/#debian [+l 360] by debhelper
03:52<dpkg>Debian does not use a specific runlevel for graphical display managers by default. Just remove the dm package(s) with "apt-get remove xdm kdm wdm gdm pdm". "update-rc.d -f xdm remove" and friends will also disable the dm until a package update is installed and the runlevel symlinks are restored.. NEWSFLASH! echo "false" >/etc/X11/default-display-manager, or a temporary solution is to hit ctl-alt-fN to get to a console

19:28<valkyres>assuming 1482 is optimal for your system

22:11<dondelelcaro>well, it's not like it no longer exists
22:12<Negaum>I have a question of a newbie in linux :). I am in a dir that thre is a executable file named "hello". I right on terminal .hello and the following message appears: "/bin/sh: hello not found". What could be the problem ?
22:12<rrm>i did try the testing and had its quirks... so stable is for me from now on...
22:12<cwood>If you use unstable it's very educational very fast, though.
22:13<rrm>what u mean...
22:13<cwood>Negaum: hello isn't marked executable, or isn't a script of some kind or a c program.
22:13<cwood>rrm: I mean you'll get skilled fast at fixing the breakage problems that can happen in Debian.
22:14<Negaum>to mark executable chmod +x, right ?
22:14<rrm>cwood: the problem is that i am not that advanced and no programing stills at all
22:14<cwood>Negaum: yes.
22:14<rrm>i just do not like windows and like to tweak with the settings and all that

22:29<logisic>cwood: im still gettin same error, what could it be?
22:30<dpkg>Getting "E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room" when using apt-get? Put the following line into your /etc/apt/apt.conf: 'APT::Cache-Limit 12582912;' . If you still get the same error, increase the value. If that file doesn't exist, add it, or put that line in a file in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/ You can also possibly get rid of this error by deleting entries from your sources.list that you don't actually need.
