01:57<drama>well if you purge wine i think it will get rid of wine and all config files idk if it will also delete the "wine" drive thats located under /home/"youruser"
01:57<RIVE>sas67, aptitude remove --purge wine
01:58<sas67>ok it did somethings then said

02:00<noobman>hi all
02:00<RIVE>Hi noobman.
02:01<Supaplex>if I build my own -dbg package of xserver-xorg-core, will it be usefull for a already running instance of xorg that's kicking my cpu in the teeth? (it's pegging a cpu core, but gdb "bt full" shows "No symbol table info available." for each line in the traceback)
02:01<noobman>can someone please help me mounting ntfs system
02:01<noobman>if i do f-disk -l i get this
02:01<Supaplex>!tell noobman -about ntfs
02:02<RIVE>noobman, first install ntfs-3g
02:02<sas67>RIVE i put sudo before the apt remove --purge wine
02:02<Supaplex>sas67: if you don't have anything important (documents, save games, saved downloads) you can clean up .wine too.
02:03<noobman>rive i tried that but doesn t want to
02:03<sas67>all d/ls saved to same folder as flux uses
02:03<noobman>i m running the amd 64 version
02:03<sas67>mt own dir
02:03<RIVE>sas67, instead of sudo use su then write the your root password.
02:04<sas67>its done
02:04<noobman>he doesn t want to mount them
02:04<sas67>at end it says killed

02:05<noobman>not working
02:05<Supaplex>!don't work
02:05<dpkg>Look buddy, "doesn't work" is a vague statement. Does it sit on the couch all day long? Does it procrastinate doing the dishes? Does it beg on the street for change? Please be specific! 03:13<drama>im actually not too worried if that does happen though because i know its jus a matter of booting into debian (where i spend 99% of my time) and updating the script. debian is actually my main distro i only have ubuntu there so if one of muh friends has a prob i can jus boot into there and see if i can reproduce it and maybe even find a solution
03:14<drama>but yea jus thought id let you know how i did it incase you come across another person like i was trying to figure it out or you need to do it urself

03:52<drama>turned out that for some reason that file was a simlink to a directory that didnt even exist so i just rebuilt the directory structure it was pointing to and it fixed it. im not sure if that will cause me problems later on because i rebuiilt it by hand but i havent had that problem again since then

10:51<Aleric>azeem: I'm really starting to hate debian developers... they are arrogant, unfriendly, non-responsive and just plainly work against people who are trying to make things better... Well, there are exceptions of course :p, but I already WAS in a bad mood because of exactly that - and see what I just got treated like on #debian-devel for no reason whatsoever while they didn't even know who I am. That only says something about THEM, not me.

Questions on that channel are often answered 2 or 3 hours after they are asked when people become available. Also, try asking in different times of the day to get different people. Or ask on the mailing list. Perhaps try rephrasing your question; perhaps people aren't understanding it. (I don't!)

11:05<evilmanu>when win asm me for user and pass, he told they're wrong
11:05<Aleric>themill: This is about a long-term problem that debian people seem to simply refuse to help me with a problem. At this point I almost don't dare to say anymore what that is, because it seems there is some conspiracy going on :p (j/k). Anyway,.. my frustration comes basically from the fact that I'm a volunteer, like everyone else, who puts 60 hours per week into open source (yes, you may wonder what I DO get my money for-- it's NOT with open
11:05<Aleric> source), yet nobody seems to be interested in actually doing something for ME, as if what I'm asking is for me - and it is not. What I do is for the users of my code/programs.
11:06<evilmanu>yes, I can pin it
11:06<evilmanu>ping it

I've seen you in -mentors a bit recently (in fact, I think I've tried to help you with a few things along the way). It might be that people don't know *how* to help you because your questions poke into sufficiently dark corners that most people don't know. It could also be that you need to phrase them differently to encourage people to respond -- showing that you've read the relevant
11:09<themill>parts of the packaging guide etc when you ask a question makes people more likely to try to help you.

17:09<norbert_>it seems as if tiff2pdf creates b/w things that look really weird
17:10<norbert_>pdftk worked fine, but it turns out the pdf files created with tiff2pdf already look incorrect

18:47<witte>Inv_: I believe ntpdate is becoming outdated, maybe you should start with looking at ntp
18:47<dpkg>from memory, ntpdate is a program that sets a system's clock using one of more NTP-servers. It's useful for setting the time occasionally (like on boot or connecting to internet). ask me about ntp. Instead of using this obsolete and unmaintained program, just run ntp-server, add the 'iburst' option to the 'server' lines in ntp.conf, and make sure -g is among the NTPD_OPTS in /etc/defaults/ntp.
18:47<dpkg>extra, extra, read all about it, ntp is the Network Time Protocol. Try "apt-get install ntp" for basic usage. Use "" as your NTP server if you don't have one of your own already. (Make sure your time zone is right, with tzconfig, first.) See or for more information.

20:56<witte>rrm: you could try a simple sid backport
20:56<witte>!simple sid backport
20:56<dpkg>First: See if the package has already been backported. Ask me about <backports>. If it hasn't, 1) Add a deb-src line for sid to your sources.list. 2) apt-get update 3) apt-get build-dep packagename;apt-get -b source packagename; 4) install the resultant debs.
20:56<witte>or rather a simple testing backport (replace sid with testing, and it should work)
