03:32<Nearsight>Hi :) I'm having some issues installing Matlab on my local debian box (lenny amd64), the problem seems debian related, that's why I'm asking here for help
03:33<Nearsight>I followed the installtion instructions, but got this (http://pastebin.com/d236a0477) error output on console... someone knows, where the error probably lies?
03:34<jm_>do what it says or /msg dpkg sux ; /msg dpkg runstuffasroot
03:34<Nearsight>or is the error really amtlab specific?
03:34<jm_>it's user error

09:46<ian>What do you prefer: grub oder grub2 ?
09:48<witte>ian: grub2 is still "work in process", so there are some bugs, but classic grub is getting quite old...
09:48<witte>ian: I would give grub2 a go, and it should work if you don't have anything special installed on your machine...
09:48<witte>ian: if not, it is easy to switch to the legacy grub
09:49<ian>witte, I have installed it recently, but I am not familiar with the modular system
09:49<ian>witte, and the good old menu.lst was replaced by grub.cfg
09:49<witte>ian: the worst thing about grub2 is the absolute lack of decent documentation
09:49<ian>witte, Ah, I just wanted to ask you whether you know about a good tutorial in grub2 hacking
09:50<ian>witte, e.g. how to insert a splash image
09:50<witte>ian: no, but if you have one, please tell me :-)
09:50<ian>witte, perhaps I will write myself one after using it for some months ;-)

17:50<kop>themill_ : Re ifplugd. What I really want to do is alter firewall configurations (and probably routing tables) as routes go up and down, but I'll be doing something klugy, like ping, to tell whether routes exist rather than running a routing protocol. (I guess it's not the route I'm interested in as much as the device..., but I do want to check for internet access by pinging the ISP's gateway etc.)
