01:28<jm_>yeah the real error would typically follow that - if that's the entire text it's yet another case of superb error reporting so that suer can figure it out really easy
01:30<shze>i dont think that the additional information helps, but it says: The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder.
01:31<jm_>yeah maybe try to strace it

01:33<Hideo>I just nmaped it, both port 25 and 587 (for encrypted submission) are open
01:33<jm_>yeah ISP should use port 25, no discussion about it
01:34<shze>how do i use strace? if i try 'strace kmail' i only get the kmail start and it ends with: Process 2503 detached
01:34<Hideo>did you enable ssl/tls when you specified port 25, shze ?
01:34<jm_>start kmail, prepare the mail, don't send it yet, attach to the profcess with strace, send it, stop strace

06:30<mike>hi, i have just done a fresh install. I changed my apt sources.list to unstable and aptitude dist-upgraded. It seem to have broken my system quite well and anything I try to fix it fails. i.e. dpkg --configure -a, apt-get -f install etc but it nothing works. What should I try next or can i remove everything, except the minimalistic system base and build on top of that? How is that done?
06:30<Myon>don't use unstable if you can't cope with such issues
06:31<Myon>easiest way to fix that is to reinstall, and use stable, or testing

19:16<synz>so you have two OSs in two different partitions?
19:16<synz>you can use a boot loader to dual boot between the two

19:19<synz>jake: I think it's very doubtful that you can use your existing installation of XP within a VM under Debian... VMs normally emulate hardware, so the hardware set will be different
19:20<synz>if you boot XP in a VM under Debian, XP is going to find a ton of hardware changes and possibly require reactivation (thank you Microsoft)
19:20<jake>so the only way i can use windows from inside linux is reserving a 10 gb space and installing it from virtualbox?
19:20<synz>correction, if you boot your *existing* XP installation in a VM under Debian...
19:21<synz>it doesn't need that much space unless you need a ton of apps
19:21<jake>so how much is cool? 1 gb is gud?
19:21<synz>and keep in mind that since it emulates hardware, games will not work well virtualized
