00:49<tony>Hi, could anybody possibly help me out with getting fglrx installed
00:49<dmoerner>!fglrx one-liner
00:49<dpkg>To install fglrx, first make sure you have <contrib> and <non-free sources> in your sources.list. Then: aptitude install module-assistant fglrx-driver fglrx-control fglrx-kernel-src && m-a prepare && m-a a-i fglrx && modprobe fglrx && echo fglrx >> /etc/modules && dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
00:49<dmoerner>tony: what isn't working for you
00:49<NickPresta>john_, one problem would be that you just posted your user credentials to a channel with 289 people in it.

00:54<tony>along with the cd's are what I have
00:54<dmoerner>that's just updates. give me a second and I will give you a sample
00:55<blarson>tony: add non-free after contrib to the lines.

02:03<averna>Hello I'm running Debian and I'm trying to load a java browser based program but the applet won't load on Ice Weasel or Epiphany. I have java common and java package installed, Is there something more I might need?
02:05<jm_>you need jre plugin package
02:06<jm_>and you need to enable java in the preferences
02:06<averna>ah? OK, I'll try that.
02:06<jm_>(java plugin, not jre plugin)
02:06<blarson>And java tends to be non-portable crap, so may require a specific java like sun's.

02:16<averna>Oh, found plugins
02:17<averna>there about 20 things in there, they all say yes
02:18<averna>must be the gcj pkg
02:18<Nemoder>gcj in etch is not very reliable for applets, I would try the non-free java plugin
02:19<averna>ah, can I get it throught the synaptic pkg mgr

02:31<averna> do I do that?
02:32<Nemoder>averna: if you use synaptic go to settings->repositories
02:32<Nemoder>and uncheck anything that says cdrom
02:33<dpkg>The list of repositories for installing packages is /etc/apt/sources.list and has lines like "deb http://ftp.<cc> etch main" and "deb etch/updates main" where <cc> is your country code. 11:32<Gathond>alternatively use dpkg -L to finds its apache.conf and check it

11:33<Gathond>It's been years since I last used mysql though

11:35<Gathond>SeLEct: then they have badly broken it, usually it contained something like: Alias /phppgadmin /usr/share/phppgadmin/ (this is from phppgadmin as it stands, but the principle is the same)

Read /usr/share/doc/sysvinit/*; read /etc/init.d/README; man update-rc.d; if that doesn't make sense, consider installing <rcconf> instead., or ask me about <startup>, or for a real twist, see <file-rc>

15:05<chealer>initiate: etch has very limited support for this card. you can use the included vesa driver, but that doesn't support any video acceleration. otherwise you can get more performant drivers, but this won't be easy. do you think that vesa would do?
15:06<enouf>kdas: well, i don't think i ever saw that .. but it's a silly request - test out stuff and find what you like ;-)

22:11<Canaris_>I just installed Lenny and it works perfectly fine so far, I just have a small problem. Whenever I click on "Computer" (on the desktop) it opens Nautilus, but on a very small windows and whenever I click on a folder a new windows is being opened
22:12<Canaris_>I do I stop it from doing that and have it start nautilus in "Explorer-View" instead (i hope u know what i mean)
22:12<vitry>Sono2, please, can you reask the answer how god commanded
22:14<abrotman>Canaris_: i dont' think you can do explorer view .. but you can change that new window thing

22:15<bugaloo>my nautilus is in portuguese, so I don't know the exact words :)
22:15<abrotman>that's pretty close
22:16<Canaris_>When I work with nautilus in "browser-mode" and I want to copy some file to...lets say /lib/firmware. It wont let me do that cause i dont have the right priviliges. (I am just signed in as a normal user) Is there some way to sudo graphically or do i just have to copy the file using the CLI ?
22:17<Canaris_>which isn't really that big a deal. I just thought that there must be a way to do that
