01:03<lethalduck>Anyone know what the .bash_profile: is supposed to look like?
01:07<mgoetze>lethalduck: well, maybe similar to the one in /etc/skel/.bash_profile
01:08<mgoetze>lethalduck: depends what you want to achieve, really...

01:10<Golfgeo>*good
01:10<mgoetze>and why are you asking this channel, as opposed to, say, google?
01:11<Golfgeo>Like I dind't google it... Well, I did and no hits on that exact version. So, I believe the version isn't oke...
01:12<Golfgeo>Thats why I thought I could ask it on a channel with English speaking people...

01:14<mgoetze>the whole if-block doesn't make sense, anyway
01:15<mgoetze>why check for ~/bin and then append /home/kim/bin, if you know they're going to be the same you can still use the same thing anyway
01:17<Golfgeo>it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

07:27<craigevil>sounds more like something ubuntu would do, no pulseaudio here and I have Ooo3, i dont install most help files either those usually only get pulled in if you use a metapackage like openoffice.org
07:28<rod>well im running unstable, but i got the openoffice3 from experimental
07:28<craigevil>same here
07:29<rod>and the helpfiles are actually a seperate story... When i did a minimal base install from a netboot iso, those help files were all downloaded and installed
07:29<valdyn>rod: no idea what you did, if you selected the desktop task or whatever
07:29<valdyn>rod: but none of this is part of base install
07:29<rod>im not going to file bugs and all, i just was curious what the reasoning was or that there is a technical explanation for me to learn
07:30<rod>no no, i deselected everything, desktop environment was deselected, laptop, everything from that list
07:30<valdyn>rod: the doc for each of those is at Suggests:, not Depends:
07:31<rod>well i dont know how to prove this, but its true..

13:34<mahogny>cahoot, it would solve the problem of keeping config files separate from data files and you would be able to see the files without trickery
13:34<mahogny>well. not for this
13:35<mahogny>but I just ran into $XDG_CONFIG_HOME, reading up on it

23:19<Web-sidux364>like ideally i would like the standard windows firefox theme
23:22<miguel>i don't know how to do that, but surely there's a theme anywhere to look as windows firefox
23:22<miguel>but why try to see like windows? ;)
23:22<Web-sidux364>i guess its not the theme, i just hate that its like all completely gray, i want it to be white
23:24<Web-sidux364>i actually dont like the windows theme, i just like the colors
23:24<miguel>i'm not sure i understand you, the theme can change the colors, you can try a mac os x theme that changes really all

23:28<snogglethorpe>yay! swfdec finally works with youtube...
23:29*newsense installs swfdec
23:29<amphi>miguel: is there no Fn-key combo to toggle bluetooth on there?
23:30<miguel>there's a switch button to turn on/off wifi and bluetooth, but i disabled that button by bios so the bluetooth keep turned on all time
23:31<miguel>it's strange, because with dmesg i can read that the system doesn't recognize any bluetooth hardware
23:32<miguel>but kernels actives bluetooth :(

23:39<newsense>i use the default theme and i see nothing wrong with it
23:39<newsense>goes well with my default kde theme
23:40<amphi>Web-sidux364: iceweasel/ff uses the current gtk theme, sorta
23:40<Web-sidux364>yeah, thats generally whats annoying i think
23:40<snogglethorpe>amphi: actually a lot better than it used to
23:40<newsense>amphi, thats what i was thinking but wasnt sure as i use the kde default
23:40<amphi>snogglethorpe: right, but still imperfectly
23:40<amphi>stupid XUL ;)
23:42<miguel>anyone has an idea about my bluetooth problem?
23:42<snogglethorpe>amphi: dunno, i'm sure there are odds and ends that are wrong, but it's quite close -- it seems to do a better job (e.g., renders rounded widgets without artifacts) than the native-gtk browsers like epiphany and midori (granted, that's mostly 'cause they generally suck at everything)
23:43<amphi>midori works well here, I don't use iw at all any more
23:43<miguel>i think it could be because before installing debian i had windows vista, and like i didn't use bluetooth so much, i disabled it by bios
23:43<snogglethorpe>whoops
23:43<miguel>then i installed debian and i enabled bluetooth, but anything i've tried works :(
23:45<miguel>must i reinstall vista, enable bluetooth, and reinstall debian? or only reinstall debian? perhaps compile a kernel (but i don't know how)?
23:46<snogglethorpe>miguel: i frankly have no idea how debian handles bluetooth (none of my hardware supports it), but i kinda doubt that reinstalling vista will help anything
23:46<newsense>miguel, is the module loaded, didnt see your original comments

23:53<miguel>yes, i know people with EXACTLY the same computer, and bluetooth works well
23:53<qdb>i am sorry
