00:07<Suzuran>OK, I got a slightly different result with the vesa framebuffer.
00:07<Suzuran>It still only displays a black screen.
00:07<Suzuran>But now when I use control-alt-F1 to get back to the console and kill X it dies with a segfault after being killed.

00:29<kop>k1lumin4t1: Why wouldn't you just netinstall?
00:29<Guest549>i cannot find the audio mixer in ubuntu 9.10
00:30<k1lumin4t1>kop, it's not for me... it's for someone that wants to install on his own PC
00:30<kop>Guest549: This is a debian channel, you need to go to #ubuntu on irc.freenode.net
00:30<k1lumin4t1>*who
00:30<Guest549>oh... I'm sorry
00:30<kop>Guest549: No worries.
00:31<kop>k1lumin4t1: I'd be leery of giving a newbie testing. And he could install off of a netinstall cd anyhow.
00:32<k1lumin4t1>kop, he happens to have no internet connectivity
00:32<k1lumin4t1>kop, and yes, I'm using testing on newbies and it goes pretty well... even more since it has more up-to-date packages
00:33<kop>k1lumin4t1: jigdo might help. Or not. I forget.

00:36<k1lumin4t1>sure
00:37<dbldtx>I could find the audio mixer in ubuntu, but doing so would entail finding ubuntu installed on my precious machine, and that's not going to happen.

04:34<asdtemp>an ubuntu "innovation"
04:35<asdtemp>you click on the panel for "start guest session" and there comes a new login with a temporary user that is jailed
04:35<asdtemp>after logout the temporary user account is deleted
04:35<asdtemp>so you can lend your laptop to anyone for a "mail check", etc.

12:27<Tigryss>i need really help :DDD
12:28<Titan8990>!ask
12:28<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.

16:10<ZeroCide>anyone if there is a way to securely email the ip that a ssh user is logging infrom? or how to get logcheck to include the last/wtmp logs?
16:11<ZeroCide>-if + is
16:11<Titan8990>you can check and see if there is a PTR record for the IP address. If they DO own a domain they should have a postmaster@<domain> address
16:12<a>locklace: I've already downloaded ntfs-3g
16:12<ZeroCide>well they dont most of my ssh users have a dynamic ip :(
16:12<Titan8990>ZeroCide, lol sounds like you need to give them email accounts then

16:12<Ikarus>if you want that you are doing something wrong
16:12<ZeroCide>with the ip they are logging on from
16:13<Ikarus>but you can make PAM do it for you if you instruct SSH to use PAM
16:13<Titan8990>daily auth logs are not enough?
16:13<ZeroCide>so if zerocide logged in from 127.0.0.1 it would email a email with User: logged in from ip

20:45<ODDity>it seems in ubuntu 9.10 it is very tightly knitted in azeem

20:48<ODDity>audio/video lag seems to be an issue a buddy of mine had before I got him to purge pulse from the newly upgraded 9.10
