00:46<eightyeight>samaira: remove "user:compure$" from your screenshot? you mean, like just using the gimp, and iditintg it out? or changing your prompt to just "$ "?
00:47<samaira>eightyeight | editing in gimp is cumbersome. I would like to change prompt to just "$". thank u.

00:49<eightyeight>or even your local .bashrc
00:49<eightyeight>wherever your PS1 string is stored
00:50<samaira>i am using bash and it is located at /etc/bash.bashrc
00:50<eightyeight>really, the export doesn't make it permament. it's just for that session, so you could close your terminal and open a new one to restore the previous PS1
00:51<samaira>eightyeight | thanks buddy, this is great and i will note it down in my commands file.

02:50<jmm>hi guys :)
02:50<vulc4n>question. Say I give a user an account
02:51<vulc4n>is there some way I can make a log of everything they do?
02:51<jmm>it sound very possible.
02:51<jmm>if not setuped their history can be written to ~/.bash_history
02:51<nothingmore>rudra: you can use nmap to ping scan the network. example: nmap -sP or 192.168.1-254.1-254 if you are feeling crazy
02:54<jmm>vulc4n: if you want something more complete, look this url :
02:54<vulc4n>I didn't think about the bash histoy
02:54<vulc4n>I think that tells me all I need to know in this case
02:55<jmm>the problem is that it can be cleaned by the user.
02:55<vulc4n>I realize that
02:55<vulc4n>but not malicious activity in this case ;)
02:55<jmm>ho :)
02:57<vulc4n>I seem to be logged in to my server like 4 times :/
02:58<jmm>what's the problem ?
02:58<vulc4n>well, I'm using FreeNX
02:59<vulc4n>I'm wondering if its not properly terminating sessions
03:00<jmm>I didn't knew about FreeNX, it sound cool.
03:00<jm_>isn't the idea of freenx to also keep sessions running?
03:01<jm_>well that's one of the way to use it
03:01<vulc4n>jm_: perhaps...
03:01<vulc4n>but then shouldn't it resume that session when logging back in?
03:01<jm_>I would expect it to yes
03:01<vulc4n>me too
03:02<vulc4n>but I have no experience with it, beyond what I have done in the last two days

06:16<dpkg>[zeroconf] Zero Configuration Networking is a set of techniques that automatically create a usable IP network without configuration or special servers. 19:14<bja>!tell latenal about nvidia
19:14<locklace>user01: the difference is whether the variable appears in the environment of subprocesses (external commands and programs) run from the shell
19:15<locklace>user01: for example, env itself is an external program, so no var that isn't exported can appear in its output. set on the other hand is a shell-internal command
