00:38<dr|z3d>Cygnus: It's dead easy.. just copy font(s) to /usr/share/fonts/<fontfamilyname> and then rebuilf your fontcache.. fonts should be immediately available.
00:38<Cygnus>ohh, i copied them to ~/.font
00:39<dr|z3d>Just copying them isn't enough.. you need to rebuild your fontcache.
00:39<Cygnus>i did the fc-cache -fv stuff also
00:40<dr|z3d>Really? Odd. Then try /usr/share/fonts/
00:41<Cygnus>although i only copied them to the .font subdir, i didn't know the full subdir structure
00:42<dr|z3d>That's not technically necessary, but it does keep things cleaner, especially if you want to remove later.
00:43<dr|z3d>In any event, try /usr/share/fonts/segoe and then a fvcache -f -v
00:43<dr|z3d>erm fc-cache sorry
00:43<Cygnus>thx, i'll do it that way

00:45<dr|z3d>One other to note, with Segoe, is that it's a couple of point sizes smaller than equivalent fonts at the same specified size, so you'll need to boost the size when specifying it.
00:46<dr|z3d>Too late!

09:47<shaola>but i finally did it
09:47<Siddharta>i hope not to have problems with this one, because it's a tablet PC ... you know, the one you can click on the screen with a pen
09:47<shaola>with ralink official drivers i had a lot of troubles with the wifi
09:47<shaola>finaly i used an ubuntu repositorie for that
09:47<shaola>and now works perfect
09:48<Siddharta>hehehe
09:48<shaola>another issue was with skype in battery mode
09:48<shaola>tha was harder to fix

09:48<Siddharta>no connection?
09:49<shaola>no, the trouble was with the mic
09:49<shaola>kind of powersaving mode in hda_intel or something like that

12:43<grueber>ok I got this stupid issue with my dell laptop, the wifi light is on and it finds the wireless device but I can't connect to my AP at all
12:44<grueber>used wpa_supplicant, etc.
12:44<azeem>grueber: what do you mean with "it finds the wireless device"?
12:44<grueber>the bcm43
12:45<grueber>it's working and all but just can't connect to the AP, using WPA2 (tried WPA too)
12:45<azeem>what is "it"?
12:45<grueber>dell inspiron 1501 laptop
12:45<azeem>so the dell finds the bcm43?
12:45<grueber>broadcom 43xx
12:45<azeem>what does this have to do with Debian?
12:45<azeem>maybe the AP is filtering by MAC, or you're trying to enter your hexadecimal password as a string
12:46<grueber>well I generated the passkey with wpa_passphrase and put it into interfaces

19:50<Cygnus>!ask
19:50<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.

23:03<dpkg>pastebinit is probably a command-line tool to send data to a <pastebin>; especially convenient if you don't have a graphical interface. To paste e.g. your sources.list do "aptitude install pastebinit; pastebinit /etc/apt/sources.list" ; to paste the output of a program do e.g. "dmesg | pastebinit"

23:10<cockroach>hey. i'm having a problem on a lenny box: all i see on the console are messages scrolling by saying things like "INFO: task mktemp:27558 blocked for more than 120 seconds." - any chance this is *not* a hardware problem? :)

23:12<cockroach>Xenguy: indeed :) - the machine usually behaves like this once a week, shortly afterwards it crashes (or becomes completely unresponsive due to high load). :)

23:13<cockroach>yep. last time i managed to log in the load was at around 375 :)
23:13<Xenguy>cockroach: so need to identify the offending app?
23:13<Xenguy>cockroach: tried 'top' ?
23:14<cockroach>Xenguy: too many candidates.
23:14<Xenguy>when you start to see the high load
23:14<cockroach>yes, just a couple of minutes ago 'sshd' was using 99% of the cpu.
23:14<cockroach>sounds unlikely, thouhg
23:14<Xenguy>cockroach: now that's weird
23:14<Xenguy>Never seen sshd act up like that
23:14<cockroach>Xenguy: we *are* using some weird cluster file system, that one is my main suspect...
23:15<Xenguy>cockroach: ahh
23:15<cockroach>Xenguy: sshd behaving like this might just be a symptom...
23:15<Xenguy>cockroach: yeah, I've just never seen sshd consume CPU like that :-/

23:18<cockroach>Xenguy: thanks.
23:19<cockroach>Xenguy: the really annoying thing is that the only machine which behaves like this is one of the few debian boxes. the rest (gentoo) works just fine. being the pro-debian guy, i'm not enjoying the others' comments :)
