07:36<Merwin>Hello. I'm trying to automatically open a luks drive at boot. My '/' is crypted, and I have a key file on an usb device. In my initramfs, I have a script that mount all USB devices and look for a key.key file use it to unlock the '/' beforme mounting it.
07:37<Merwin>I've got two problem: 1) When I 'break' in initramfs at the 'top' time, /dev is empty (only null and random). 2) When I use udevadm info on a existed device in /dev (in initramfs), I dot: "no record for /dev/sdb in database"
07:37<Merwin>I call /scripts/init-premount/udev to populate /dev before calling udevadm
07:38<Merwin>(from the initramfs prompt shell)
07:38<Merwin>Does my script that moun each USB devices to find a key.key file is in the right place (local-top subdir) ?

08:22<Merwin>hum, it doesn't :D
08:22<Merwin>ok so let's forget the udevadm :)
08:23<Merwin>When I boot in a initramfs shell, broke on "top" (man initramfs-tools => break), my /dev is empty
08:24<Merwin>But the cryproot script (provided by cryptsetup, which unlock my /) is called in local-top. Si I don't know where I have to put my script => It must be called after /dev has been populated, and before cryptroot is run
08:25<jm_>why are you doing this on your own? doesn't debian's initramfs handle this already?
08:26<Merwin>debian initramfs handle the unlocking od the / from an usb drive, yeah

09:55<babilen>Metrahla: Think of a module as a driver that implements support for specific hardware
09:55<jordanm>leino: dpkg --contents x.deb, it actually always installs to /, not /usr

13:26<Fighter>Without a CD drive, still can't get the installer to work
13:26<jordanm>!usb install
13:26<dpkg>Yes, it is possible to install Debian from a USB stick/thumbdrive/pen drive/key, as long as your system's BIOS can boot from USB. Details are in the Installation Guide, see http://www.debian.org/releases/lenny/i386/ch04s03 . To download USB stick images, ask me about <install debian>. https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/+download to prepare from Windows. BIOS can't boot from USB? Use http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html
13:26<jordanm>Fighter: did you follow the instructions in the install guide?
13:26<Fighter>No, not entirely because that required another linux system

17:40<gravity>Dreakon: That depends on how you set it up. Just using sudo in the gnome gui entry box will mean that your app will never run. There are gui wrappers around sudo like gksudo that will make it work like you imagine.
17:40<gravity>Dreakon: All the thing does is run the command as you give it. If you don't tell it to pop up a visible window and run sudo in it, it won't do so.
