01:41<shazbotmcnasty>hey, I'm having trouble running a program called 'xflux' - my error is "./xflux: error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86vm.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" the output of "ldd ./xflux" is http://crunchbanglinux.org/pastebin/678 - everything that it says 'not found' is already installed but it says 'set to manually installed'
01:41<shazbotmcnasty>I did ldconfig

01:42<shazbotmcnasty>but I'm stuck there
01:43<Rapsodius>man 8 ld.so
01:43<jm_>which package did you install to get this lib?
01:43<jm_>are you using Debian?
01:43<Rapsodius>read the manual
01:43<Rapsodius>and it should be clear

01:44<Rapsodius>the program is at /lib
01:44<shazbotmcnasty>jm_, yes I'm using debian
01:44<shazbotmcnasty>squeeze
01:44<jm_>shazbotmcnasty: and the other question?
01:44<shazbotmcnasty>and the libs were already installed, xflux is not a lib
01:45<Rapsodius>and its called /lib/ld-linux.so.2, run it as a normal user

01:49<Rapsodius>on a side note, that is an xfree lib, it is an old program, can't you get an updated version?
01:50<shazbotmcnasty>jm_, http://crunchbanglinux.org/pastebin/679
01:50<shazbotmcnasty>and Rapsodius no i can't
01:50<shazbotmcnasty>it just says 'it is set to manually installed'
01:50<jm_>shazbotmcnasty: so you're using amd64 port, right?
01:51<shazbotmcnasty>well there wasn't a choice
01:51<shazbotmcnasty>and friend is using it on a 64 bit machine with no prob

01:52<jm_>do you have ia32-libs:
01:52<jm_>installed?
01:52<shazbotmcnasty>I do not know
01:52<jm_>apparently not, otherwise dpkg -S will show it, so install it
01:52<Rapsodius>try the ld-linux command anyway, it should help your program find the library
01:52<shazbotmcnasty>I did
01:52<shazbotmcnasty>one second I'll give you output
01:53<shazbotmcnasty>http://crunchbanglinux.org/pastebin/680

09:18<blaba>Hi! I have a problem. The only way I can edit a binary file is through patching (it's how it's working right now and I can not do anything about it). My goal is to empty a binary file. The problem is that the binary file can differ, so I have to do it with an ed-style patch. My problem with ed-style patching is that it does not recognize the dollar-sign. I can write "1,5678d" but not "1,$d". Any solution?

09:34<mattcen>Hi all, I'm trying to multiboot Debian Lenny and Ubuntu Lucid (even as I say it it sounds sacriligious), and while I have them both (mostly) working, I'd like to know if there is a Right way to stop them fighting over management of the boot loader? I.e. disable auto-regeneration of grub.conf on a kernel update etc.?
