13:24<dpkg>[downgrade] Downgrading is not possible with apt-get/aptitude and no future support is anticipated. Some programs change the binary format of their files in a way that cannot be rolled back later, and package maintainer scripts provide ways to upgrade to new config file formats but not ways to downgrade. You can always try to downgrade a package using dpkg -i <olderversion.deb>. See also <partial downgrade>, <unstable->testing>, <sdo>.

The wikipedia article says that some companies are claiming that the standard should be H.246 because it is widely spread already and it is very unlikely that there are patent trolls waiting for it to be choosen and because Theora isn't as widely spread it is more likely that they do have patent trolls waiting to sue if it becomes the standar.. 23:19<craigevil>!why aptitude
23:19<dpkg>aptitude has more advanced conflict/dependency resolution and will often find a solution where apt-get gives up. It can be used from the command line like apt-get plus an interactive resolver makes it much easier to recover from broken dependencies. It has advanced search capabilities (see <aptitude search>).
