01:01<JoshStrobl>Hello, I recently created my first debian package for a Ubuntu theme/icon pack I made. It originally installs it in /usr/share/themes and /usr/share/icons however it needs to be installed in the .themes and .icons of the home directory (of the user). How can I get a debian package to move the files there instead?
01:04<ansgar>JoshStrobl: Debian packages must not touch the home directory (they wouldn't know the username anyway). And are you sure they must be installed there at all?
01:05-!-hazard3 [~hazard@pool-96-233-46-194.bstnma.fios.verizon.net] has quit [Quit: Quitting.]
01:05<JoshStrobl>Yes. When the package installed in usr/share/themes and usr/share/icons, it wouldn't register the theme when going into the preferences. (Right clicking on desktop, clicking "change desktop background", going to themes tab...it wouldn't show up).
01:05-!-sporkette [~quassel@smhowell.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
01:05<JoshStrobl>Whenever a theme is placed in .themes or .icons its fine.
01:06-!-aranax [~aranax@201.202.57.222] has joined #debian
01:07<jm_>you need to make it do that and not touch /home
01:07<ansgar>JoshStrobl: That does look more like you miss to register the theme somewhere? I would look at other theme packages. In any case you might get better answers in #ubuntu-packaging (for Ubuntu) or #debian-mentors (for Debian).

01:13<ansgar>JoshStrobl: But I have no idea how GNOME(?) handles themes. So I cannot help you any further.

02:47<I_need_some_help>Good Morning Boys and Girls
02:48<I_need_some_help>i have a Problem, does anybody know, how i get the kde desktop installed wenn the debian system is allredy installed with gnome?
02:48<am>hi all, i have a partition but due to filesystem crash all data other than lost+found is not available to access i have executed fsck command on partition but still my data is not recovered
02:49<jm_>!install kde
02:49<dpkg>For KDE3, the metapackage 'kde' installs tons of stuff (almost the full KDE), 'kde-core' only the core, 'kdebase' is the smallest. To install KDE instead of GNOME during Debian installation if you're not installing from the KDE CD, supply "tasks=standard, kde-desktop" at the boot prompt of any of the installers. For more details, see http://wiki.debian.org/KdeDebInstall. See also <kde version> <install kde4>

06:30<slush>you do, some messages are sent through email
06:30<slush>local delivery is used for that

06:35<babilen>someone: You probably don't want to disable exim4 ... but it's your system and you are free to do what you want. What is the problem with exim running?
06:35<babilen>!why a mta
06:35<dpkg>An MTA should be on most Unix(ish) systems to provide a way for various services to deliver asynchronous system or error messages. This includes things like cron and at (to give you the output of jobs) and various daemons (e.g. the init script of MySQL). The MTA does not have to listen to network ports so spam and security issues are largely irrelevant. See also <nullmailer>.
06:36<someone>no i will not disable exim4 but just need to know how it is configured
06:36<someone>how can i stop or start when i want
06:36<smv>exim4 is enabled and configured for local delivery because is needed by some cron? scripts. is safe to leave it like that to not brak some functionality. install sysv-rc-conf to see a list of services, and use update-rc.d to enable/disable/adjust init scripts. see man update-rc.d, man sysv-rc-conf, man init
06:36<smv>s/brak/break
