22:59<xjjk>do you have firewire?
22:59<XaTriX>dont know
23:00<XaTriX>eth0 is "e1000" & eth1 is "via-rhine"
23:00<XaTriX>the second is the nic
23:00<xjjk>that implies you have 2 NICs
23:00<XaTriX>& i also set networks, eth1 on auto/dhcp
23:00<XaTriX>like eth0

23:01<XaTriX>grep on dmesg (for e1000) = no return
23:02<xjjk>perhaps at one point you did? none of this is really that important
23:02<XaTriX>on kern.log e1000 drivers are loading...
23:02<xjjk>just edit the file appropriately
23:02<XaTriX>i didnt touch the server, config is same since 2k8
23:05<XaTriX>i've commented eth0 (e1000) and change for that
23:05<XaTriX>SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:18:f3:21:00:12", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"

23:50<edbian>I'm just learning how to create Debian packages. I have a couple scripts that I wrote to make things easier on my system that I've placed in /usr/local/bin. Is it proper to keep them there or have them installed as .deb packages which would place them in /usr/bin ??
23:50-!-dvs [] has joined #debian
23:51<icebrain>edbian: I would make a .deb and put them on /usr/bin, but I don't know what's the official Debian stance :|

23:51<jmarsden>edbian: Packages for your own use can do whatever you want. Packages for general use and for inclusion in Debian should not install anything to /usr/local/ per Debian Policy.
23:52<edbian>jmarsden, I understand that. My packages do not put anything in /usr/local/* I'm saying I wrote some scripts and cp'd them into /usr/local/bin. Now that I know how to make Debian packages should I create packages for each script and take them out of /usr/local/bin ??
23:53<jmarsden>Well, only if you want to distribute those scripts for the use of others.
23:53<edbian>jmarsden, I do not. :) Thanks for the help!
