09:02<protz>babilen: well, I was kind of stupid. My squeeze a1 cd image didn't work out (no eth driver), and I didn't abort soon enough, so I had to abort after it had started installing packages into the target, and then the newer squeeze daily d-i try to install the remaining packages on top of the previous installation (I forgot to check "reformat")... so I think I'm the only one to blame for handling that so badly

09:15<Gorgon>My USB disks sometimes (rather too often) change name (sdb -> sdd etc) while machine is running. Is there a way to get md to understand that was sdb is now sdd? (sometime quicker than reboot, which just make sdd become sdb again) [debian 5.0.6, kernel 2.6.35-trunk-adm64]
09:18<f8l>Gorgon: What is an "md"?
09:18<Gorgon>f8l: kernel component that manage devices in /dev/md/
09:20<themill>Gorgon: you should be able to do this by UUID; /msg dpkg uuid
09:24<Gorgon>themill: Tnx, looks like what I want, but I was advised against using UUID with md, there is nothing about md in that message and I have not found anything on this topic when searching, so I'm not very sure about the correct / recommended setup for md. My mdadm.conf does not specify /dev/sdX anyway.
09:25<themill>hmm... too long since I've touched md for me to be much more use to you, I think. I *thought* that was possible but perhaps I'm mistaken.

16:22<merethan>mm, kernel routing will do too
16:23<retrospectacus>braindump: it means you will have 924 fewer aptitude points after the upgrade.

16:24<mAniAk->merethan: turn on forwarding in sysctl and youre good to go?
16:24<braindump>also I thought a whole Internet would be worth a lot more points than that
16:24<merethan>Yes, have it
16:24<retrospectacus>Internets are getting very cheap these days, especially for Debian users
16:24<merethan>mAniAk-, thing is, using an userspace program gives more control on how it's done. fragroute for example can fool some stateful firewalls

16:25<braindump>I mean apart from losing all those Internet points retrospectacus

18:29<jesperj>I've had problems after a kernel upgrade on lenny, and I thought that the errors "FATAL: Error inserting snd (/lib/modules/2.6.26-2-amd64/kernel/sound/core/snd.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)" and from (dmesg) "snd: Unknown symbol compat_alloc_user_space" were due to a potential mismatch (that I had caused) of trying to use incompatible kernel and modules, but after seeing this thread I now ask here if th

18:37<jesperj>The CVE-2010-3081 fixes added to every distro kernel (and also to the latest

23:28<qq->!Cache-Limit
23:28<dpkg>Getting "E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room" when using apt-get or aptitude? Put the following line into your /etc/apt/apt.conf: APT::Cache-Limit "12582912"; If that file doesn't exist, create it, or put the line in a file in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/ If you still get the same error, increase the value. Alternatively, delete entries within /etc/apt/sources.list that you don't actually need.
