---Logopened Mon Oct 11 00:00:42 2010
00:01<qq->zendeavor, you running sid , isn't it ?
00:01<zendeavor>yes
00:01<qq->!sid
00:01<dpkg>sid is the <unstable> version of Debian. Sid is the destructive kid in Toy Story. It is NOT an acronym, but is sometimes backronymed Still In Development anyway. Do not use sid unless you have the skill to find your way out of the mess that broken packages may put you in; sid is not supported in #debian because sid users should be able to solve their own problems. Sid will never be released. See also <sid faq> <unstable>.
00:02<zendeavor>this is not a sid related problem
00:02<zendeavor>and i've been fudging this since I used stable a few months ago

00:11<zendeavor>both OS are on the same hard drive on my laptop
00:11<zendeavor>why all that trouble when I could just do it directly?
00:11<zendeavor>plus some of my files are larger than my flash drive

19:31<lxuser>and AIUI, the debian way to recompile the kernel is creating a custom deb w/ kernel-package, which would make an additional grub entry
