00:41<rijo>b43 driver is working, wpa_supplicant seems to be config'd right but i can scan for networks but not connect
00:41<rijo>tried wpa_gui, wicd and knetworkmanager and none work
00:42<rijo>exact same config worked under sidux but not sqeeze

01:07<Ninj>can someone tell me where does mysql stores everything, on a debian?
01:09<dondelelcaro>Ninj: /var/lib/mysql by default
01:09<dondelelcaro>Ninj: but you can of course change it
01:10<Ninj>just found it in fact :) but does that mean that i can overwrite this dir with my backup one to get all my mysql DB as it was?
01:10<dondelelcaro>Ninj: presumably, yes
01:10<Ninj>ok, i try it, than you
01:11<dondelelcaro>(assuming the versions are the same, etc.)
01:11<Ninj>(i must really clean my key K)
01:11<Ninj>versions are not the same, but close, i give it a try
01:11<Ninj>what about the dir "mysql.cluster"?
01:13<Ninj>version mismatch im afraid :(
01:14<Ninj>Starting MySQL database server: mysqld . . . . . . . . . . . . . . failed!
01:14<Ninj>do i have a solution?
01:14<Ninj>like downgrading the mysql version?
01:15-!-ptr [] has quit [Quit: Leaving.]

01:16-!-rijo [] has quit [Read error: Operation timed out]
01:16<chealer>Ninj: probably
01:17<chealer>that is, you can probably downgrade mysql. I'm not saying it's easy to recover this way
01:17-!-cahoot [~radix@] has joined #debian
01:18<Ninj>ill try it then
01:18<Ninj>i had an etch version
01:18<Ninj>now i run lenny
01:18<Ninj>how to get back to this previous version?
01:26-!-indu [~indraven@] has joined #debian
01:27<jm_>maybe it's best to install etch in a vm or chroot, get mysql running, then export the DB and import in new version - that's what we did here with postgresql
01:32<indu>hi, have installed the pipbox in plone 3, and added under pipbox properties the following line,
01:32<indu>{type:'overlay',subtype:'ajax',selector:'.arrowlistmenu a',urlmatch:'$',urlreplace:' #content >*'}
01:32<indu>on clickinng the link,, its opening the pop up but there is no content shown
01:32<indu>what could be the problem here
01:32<indu>coulld someone please help me out
01:33<Ninj>chealer, dondelelcaro, jm_, i also have a SQL dump.
01:33<Ninj>i guess it's a better idea then :)
01:34<Ninj>but i wonder about these tables: mysql, information_schema: should i load them too?
01:37-!-indu [~indraven@] has left #debian [Leaving]
01:41<dondelelcaro>Ninj: mysql has the information about users and permissions, so you probably want it
01:42<Ninj>but information_schema will be built automatically, isn't it?
01:42<dondelelcaro>I think so

01:59<chealer>Ninj: an SQL dump would indeed be lots simpler
02:00<chealer>Ninj: I'm not sure what you (built automatically when), but in a way yes, usually it's MySQL itself that maintains this table
02:00<chealer>s/you/you mean/

02:05<Ninj>chealer, i meant that, with all my databases stored in .sql files, i probably don't need to restore information_schema, just the other databases. or should i also load information_schema.sql?

02:16<ku>any config that i can try??

02:21<jm_>try upgrading to squeeze
02:22-!-richard [] has joined #debian
02:23<chealer>Ninj: oh, sorry. no need to restore those, indeed
02:24<Ninj>thank you chealer :) one more thing: to get back all my users, is it enough to import the user table from mysql DB?
02:25-!-freealan [] has joined #debian
02:26<dondelelcaro>Ninj: no
02:26<dondelelcaro>the other tables also have information which is important.
02:26<dondelelcaro>(tables, columns, and db)
02:27<Ninj>about users?
02:27<ku>jm_ u means update the match?(computer)
02:27-!-richard [] has quit []
02:27<dondelelcaro>21121012nN absolutely.
02:29<Ninj>oh ok, but if i try importing all the "mysql" DB, i get errors (duplicate entries and so on...)
02:29-!-debalance [~debalance@] has joined #debian
02:29-!-sana [~sana@] has joined #debian
02:30<jm_>ku: yes, squeeze is the upcoming debian release
02:30<dondelelcaro>Ninj: that's because some of the users already exist, like the root and debiansysmaint users.
02:31<Ninj>what does this "iirc" mean? sry for the noob question :)
02:31<dpkg>IIRC, "IIRC" is an acronym for "If I Recall Correctly", or "If I remember correctly"
02:31<Ninj>oh ok
02:31<Ninj>so, it's almost impossible to restore users from a backup
02:32<Ninj>is it?
02:32<Ninj>i would really need to restore them, since there are many, and privileges are complex

04:33<koollman>Jarlaxe: /home/user1/.ssh/known_hosts:2 -> second line

07:14<nifelan_laptop>hi. I have a little bit of a problem with my debian router box. The router is configured to route two public IP subnets and uses a different subnet for the actual internet connection/routing to the internet. The problem is: the connection network itself has no internet access (ergo all traffic from my router itself isn't routed to the internet). any ideas how I can get internet access with the
07:14<nifelan_laptop>router itself? (for updates etc)

11:47<babilen>safinaskar: If you want to restrict this list to *not* automatically installed packages, you'll have to augment the search terms. Use aptitude search '~i\!~M' or aptitude search '?installed?not(?automatic)'
11:47<peterS>gcs_: LGPL 2 or 3? I think they both allow this, but the difference may be important
11:48<gcs_>peterS: LGPL 2.1 .

20:15<mattcen>OK well I fiddled a bit, and my framebuffer started working. I installed ~t^desktop$, and it caused my screen to be blank during boot. I then tried to start X as root via SSH, and my console appeared using the framebuffer.
20:16<mattcen>I then tried a few other things, before trying to revert my changes by purging the packages installed by ~tdesktop, and it still works OK :S
