11:09<candide>abrotman: i have the same problem with older hardware. you wouldn't happen to know how to enable 3d acceleration on squeeze for a Radeon 9600 card, would you?
11:09<abrotman>candide: it should "Just Work (TM)"
11:10<abrotman>that said ... i have an old radeon that won't work with my tv :)
11:10<candide>Well, I have libgl1-mesa-dri installed, and direct rendering/KMS work, but glxinfo spits out that my OpenGL renderer is still the "software rasterizer"

11:14<Nemoder>from what I hear ATI dropped support for the older cards from their fglrx driver

13:15<MyKEcs>it asked me if i want to keep old cfs and i type that i want old cfg it may affect this?
13:15<MyKEcs>*cfg
13:16<otzi>have you already run dpkg --configure -a?
13:16<MyKEcs>yes and it only updated mysql-common with old config for 5.0
13:16<otzi>oh
13:16<otzi>it makes sense to be like that then
13:17<otzi>you have now to downgrade it back to 5.0

16:09<Habstinat>Hello, I think I've found a driver bug. While trying to get an application to work, I reported a problem to the developer and he told me to forward it on to the Debian crew. Here is the problem: http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4848 It looks like you'd only be interested in the second problem.
16:09<theodore>what r the rules of xchat?

16:13<eightyeight>theodore: anyway, i don't know why the site isn't working for you. if you were using anything other than the non-free flash plugin, i'd recommend it, but because you're already using it, i don't have anything ho add

18:56<smv>About a year and a half I was told that 1GB for /var/log is kinda too much. Now I think that making the partition that small wasn't a good decision. There are many logs, chosing random or only on how much space they use isn't what I really want. I think I also need a way to understand the logs. I also want to be able to keep the logs for more than a month.

22:19<dieselnut>I'm hoping for some guidance. I am/was running Debian unstable, upgrade via dist-upgrade from 5.0.7 stable. Tonight, I decided to try to convert to using ext4. I followed the directions but upon reboot, I get mount errors. After doing some reading, I _think_ this is due to the fact that my initrd does not have the ext4 support

23:04<dieselnut>Can someone help me understand the statement: "Since I installed Debian as Lenny on ext3 rather than Squeeze on ext4 initrd didn't include module for ext4 support. I had to get generic initrd for my kernel and use it to boot system." ?

23:17<dieselnut>I ask since there is this comment in the ext4 conversion wiki: "f you are using a stock 2.6.30 kernel from debian repositories, be careful when you are converting you root filesystem. It is possible you need to update initrd (update_initramfs -u) to add ext4 driver. If the driver is not in initrd image, your system will not boot after the conversion. "

23:25<dieselnut>I boot my 2.6.32-5 kernel and it doesn't find /
