00:01<Glass_Echidna>Yesterday I was having some trouble creating debian packages whereby my binaries weren't being packaged. Which I managed to resolve with the help of some users on this channel. However, I've noticed my maintainer scripts aren't being packaged now. Is there something I need to do to make sure they're included? I'm using debuild.

01:00<OsirisX>Glass_Echidna: are you still there?
01:02<OsirisX>Glass_Echidna: simply put the maintainer scripts in the <package>/debian directory
01:03<OsirisX>Glass_Echidna: in the <package>/debian/rules file call dh_installdebconf (I think - let me check)
01:05<OsirisX>Glass_Echidna: as well as dh_installdeb (and I presume you are obviously calling dh_builddeb too among others)
01:06-!-_5tk is now known as _51k
01:07<OsirisX>Glass_Echidna: as you probably know, the maintainer scripts are called preinst, postinst, prerm & postrm

01:11<Glass_Echidna>OsirisX: Thanks for the help. Sorry for not responding I was discussing something similar in another channel. As it turns out the problem was I used dh_make to generate the scripts. Although I thought it was odd I didn't realise that the .ex extension it appends to the maintainer script names meant that it was just an example. Removing the .ex solved my problem.
01:12<OsirisX>Glass_Echidna: glad you sorted the problem - yes .ex indicates a template file

03:21<brian>Hi All, I apologize for the late-night question but my google-fu has failed me. I've been following instructions on how to create a raid-1 software raid array during install, but the software raid device that I am expecting to show up does not.
03:22<brian> - step31 shows software raid devices showing up
03:22<vtts>brian, did you create partitions for raid?
03:22<vtts>and then, did you setup raid using those partitions?
03:22<brian>In the current snapshot, downloaded tonight, for the squeeze netinst, they don't appear
03:23<brian>vtts: created "physical device for RAID" partitions
03:23<brian>Those show as 'raid' in the device list afterwards
03:23<brian>then I say "configure software raid"
03:24<brian>Go through the steps (only one partition, for now), but when I "finish" the software raid configuration, no software raid device appears
03:24<vtts>does your system boot up after install?
03:25<vtts>or do you use raid1 for some other partitions?
03:25<brian>I haven't attempted to proceed with the install, because I had planned on installing to the raid array
03:26<vtts>well... usualy one should crate partitions, create raid1 using them, and install into it
03:26<brian>That's exactly what I am doing, it's just … not doing it
03:26<brian>Note that this is the current squeeze snapshot
03:27<vtts>any errors?
03:27<brian>I'm in the "expert install" TUI; if I can drop out of that and look for a log, then I will, but otherwise, no errors

03:29<brian>Thanks, I'll do that right now
03:30<brian>Hrm. There is an error!
03:31<brian>in /var/log/syslog, correlated with the times of me attempting to create raid arrays, there is an error that says "mdadm: /dev/md/ is an invalid name for an md device (empty!)"
03:31-!-gusnan [] has joined #debian
03:33<brian>Google basically has no results for that error, other than source code.
