04:46<ganeshp>hi all, I wanted to know - if we copy the windows ttf fonts to folder /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-custom, will that work from next reboot? I tried doing this, but the newly copied fonts showup as empty boxes when used. Am I doing this wrong?
04:47<ganeshp>I am skeptical about ttf-mscorefonts-installer. When I ran this it broke my font display and i had to reinstall the entire OS.

04:49<ganeshp>Arrowmaster: honestly not sure. But the fonts started looking narrow and blurry and eye straning. After some research I gave up and started reinstalling packages one by one and went on watching fonts display. I completed all other except ttf-mscorefonts-installer. And I suspected on this.

04:53<Arrowmaster>the major problem though is your webbrowser since once you have the fonts installed they will get used whenever a sites css names them

12:59<sney>ppa is ubuntu, Debian is different enough that it can cause problems
12:59<devil>ubuntu is not debian, simple as that
12:59<themill>!why not use a ppa
12:59<dpkg>PPAs (Ubuntu's Personal Package Archives, see <PPA>) are not built against Debian releases, they are built against Ubuntu releases. This makes using packages from them on a Debian box highly unlikely to work out well. Ask me about <ssb> <package recompile> <bobbitt>.

17:22<tituz>hi
17:22<sney>hi
17:23<xplicit>i've got a wireless issue: I am using a non-broadcasting ssid wpa-psk, it will attempt to connect and just loop. Router does not show my connection, and though it says im connected it just looks like it keeps trying to connect.
17:23<sney>is that with wpasupplicant?
17:25<xplicit>i've tried using that, but im not going to lie I am a bit of a newbie so googling around lead me to try wpasupplicant and it didn't seem to do anything for me

23:53<kveroneau>flaccid: Reading the wiki, it appears there are some issues with direct loading from EFI, no 3D accel.
23:54<flaccid>depends on the hardware. macbooks do have different vid cards depending on the model and year and all that
23:54<kveroneau>But there are solutions listed there. What I'm hoping works is the sleep feature. My old laptop was unable to sleep(ATI driver compatibility issues).
23:55<kveroneau>This Mac has an Intel card(I choose it for that reason) and Linux is more compatible with Intel, as I've seen in the past.
23:55<flaccid>all the above can be tested with a livecd
23:55<flaccid>i'm on a macbook pro atm (unibody). only ran os x on it though
