00:28<ZykoticK9>fosser_josh, if you're getting "not managed" that says the device has an entry in /etc/network/interfaces - you can either configure it there, or remove it and let network manager "manage" it.

03:52<miggs>hello. i don't manage to get my external repos trusted in debian testing. if for example i try "wget -O - http://deb.opera.com/archive.key | apt-key add -" i get among others "gpg: can't open `/etc/apt/trusted.gpg'"
03:53<th_>perhaps you need to run them as root
03:53<miggs>as root is the same
03:53<valdyn>miggs: why cant that file be opened?
03:54<th_>ls -l /etc/apt/trusted.gpg
03:54<th_>what's the result?
03:54<madadam1>valdyn, apt-get build-dep pidgin what exactly do?
03:54<miggs>-rw------- 1 root root 11255 Jun 11 07:50 /etc/apt/trusted.gpg
03:54<valdyn>madadam1: it installs the packages needed to build the pidgin debian package
03:54<valdyn>madadam1: this is usually what you want also for building latest upstream
03:55<madadam1>valdyn, great, thank'
03:55<valdyn>madadam1: if you want a full featured package thats much easier than tracking optional depends
03:56<miggs>valdyn: i don't know

03:56<madadam1>valdyn, could I create a .deb to install this version of pidigin?

03:57<valdyn>madadam1: the worst case scenario you should use "checkinstall" i suppose
03:57<miggs>th_ i ran that as sudo

06:03<dpkg>[backup] something you should do *ALWAYS*... if you value your sh*t in the least. Otherwise eons of built-up data can go BYE BYE FOREVER one day if you do not; either by HD malfunction, intentional evil by crackers, mischievous glak elves invading your system, or large magnets getting out of hand. Pay the dollars for a tape system or CDR and use <tar> (optionally with bzip2 at lowest compression). See <things to backup>.

11:36<K0JIbKA>well my problem with 3G modem under Debian led to uncontrollable shutting down process. Upon loading several Kernel problems were sent to Internet. Whenever I want to disconnect from Internet modem slows down the system and prevents from normal Shut Down process. It recalls USB ports continuously for disconnect/discover in a loop. So far I have to force Power Down Button. Which is not good for laptop itself. In Vista there's no problem.
