---Logopened Mon Jun 20 00:00:01 2011
00:00<Darko>You probably are.
00:00<Darko>Are you sure what you're trying to mount exists?
00:00<Glaivelen>I am very sure.
00:01<Glaivelen>mount also complains about /etc/fstab about something 0.o
00:02<Darko>Wait, what are you trying to do with your mac?
00:02<Darko>Use a custom kernel?
00:02<Osiris_X>now building kernels with deb-pkg target followed by dpkg-genchanges and debsign. However need to change debian/control and debian/changelog files (they are created during the make deb-pkg process). How can I do this?

00:02<Glaivelen>I'm trying to Dual-boot Mac OS 9 and Linux.
00:02<Osiris_X>specifically I want to change the source from linux-upstream to something useful
00:02<Osiris_X> and the maintainer to me rather than root@host
00:03<george_>does linux even run on macs?
00:03-!-Darko [] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
00:03<Glaivelen>Yup :D
00:03<george_>i thought they only ran on pcs
00:03<george_>but it would make sense they're both unix-based
00:03<george_>it's just Mac is pretty selective with their hardware
00:03<Glaivelen>True :\

02:56<jm_>no worries
02:56<jon_>What does the -t flag do?

02:57<dba>jon_: all packages updated (unless you want to)
02:57<dba>jon_: by using -t, you tell apt to explicitly take mentioned packages from backports.

14:45<koollman>it's a trick to stop people from creating new bugs so that the bugs can be removed faster than they arrive. Or something. :)
14:45<sney>at a guess, maybe it's related to the alioth reorganization a few weeks back? or it's just overloaded
14:45<sney>the gnome3 transition currently happening in sid/testing is creating quite a few new and interesting bugs.
14:46<thewanderer1>huh... seems like the server itself is not keeping up, the webpage doesn't start loading until it's generated and this appears to take 10sec or so

15:51<saintk>Well, the origional plan was to simply lock users in their homedir for both ssh and scp so they can't escape to anyware else in the system. For SCP it was a piece of cake, for SSH appereantly I need to setup a chroot and move the user in there in order to lock them

18:53<dimitris>ok then. :) hello everyone. i've been using debian squeeze for quite a while now. When i installed it on my current computer, the ide mode was enabled in the bios. I switched the bios setting to ahci and did a clean install. When the installation completed and i tried to boot my newly installed system (with bios ahci setting enabled) it would get till the point where it said 'loading grub. welcome to grub' and then freeze. When i switche
18:53<dimitris>d the bios setting back to ide, it boots fine. I can't understand what the problem is. As i mentioned, the ahci was enabled during the installation. Btw, my system has a sata2 ssd, a sata3 hdd, and two sata2 dvd drives. Any suggestions or ideas? thanks in advance

19:43<dondelelcaro>steve__: the domain name should be the rest of the FQDN (so for, it would be, while bleargh is the hostname)

19:45<themill>!.local domain
19:45<dpkg>.local is a pseudo-top-level domain for private networks. If you want to administer this domain manually using a name server like <bind> or in your <hosts> files, you should ensure that /etc/nsswitch.conf doesn't contain "mdns" entries for the hosts line in that case. Alternatively, you can let <avahi> manage the domain for you using <mdns>.
