00:25<APimpNamedSlickback>Hey guys, how would I go about running a program without it closing when I exit terminal?
00:25<APimpNamedSlickback>Mainly I'm trying to run the deluge webui, but after I start it I can't do anything else. Also, I'm pretty new to linux in general, lol
00:26<sney>!screen
00:26<APimpNamedSlickback>Tried an @reboot cron job for the command, but it doesn't seem to have worked
00:26<dpkg>screen is a terminal multiplexor, allowing you to have n terminals and easily switch between them, add keybindings, scroll back, copy/paste and lets you resume all your sessions if your terminal dies or are disconnected. See /usr/share/doc/screen/README.Debian and ask about <screen tutorial>, <byobu>. 01:11<nyov>aussa: if possible, I'd go for wheezy. future compatibility and all...
01:11<nyov>maybe there's a backport, too?
01:12<aussa>there isn't but I can download nvidia-graphics-drivers source and built it... the problem is there are certain packages from wheezy I will have to install directly from apt
01:12<chealer>nyov: if you consider these 2 choices only, I would recommend testing, but be aware if you're inexperienced with Debian.

But if I use OpenVPN GUI for Gnome (in Network connections) it writes that "VPN connection failed".

09:41<daemonkeeper>If it works on recent 2.6, its ok
09:41<BabThooka>when I "modprobe r8168" I get "invalid module format"

23:14<mosno>kenyon: one of the lines they want you to add is for squeeze-backports so it's not just mozilla stuff afaik
23:15<mosno>apt-cache policy for a package it wants to upgrade eg. libcairo shows both are on priority 500
23:15<mosno>"both" being debian proper and the lines i added from mozilla
23:17<kenyon>mosno: that's because libcairo is a dependency of mozilla
23:17<kenyon>mosno: they are just using squeeze-backports as the name of the suite or distribution
23:17-!-xchat [~xchat@c-71-61-0-167.hsd1.pa.comcast.net] has joined #debian
23:17<mosno>kenyon: i have no pending actions in aptitude, i am not trying to install iceweasel yet, however it marks libcairo as upgradeable
23:17<xchat>anyone here used LFS
23:18<xchat>?????
23:18<xchat>anyone?
23:18<kenyon>xchat: who cares, this is #debian
23:18<xchat>idk where else to ask
23:19<mosno>xchat: they have support resources
23:19<xchat>where?
23:19<xchat>do they have a channel?
23:20<kenyon>!linux from scratch
23:20<dpkg>Linux From Scratch (LFS) is a project providing instructions for building a custom Linux system entirely from source code. http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/ #lfs-support at irc.linuxfromscratch.org.
23:20<xchat>thanks
23:20<kenyon>mosno: do you have anything in /etc/apt/preferences to make squeeze-backports a higher priority?
23:20<kenyon>also, what is your apt-cache policy output?
23:21-!-AzaToth [~azatoth@93-232-96-87.cust.blixtvik.se] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
23:21<mosno>kenyon: nothing at all for preferences*
23:22<mosno>kenyon: one moment
23:23<mosno>kenyon: http://paste.debian.net/129151/
23:23<mosno>kenyon: it's a freshly installed system, haven't done much to it except install some packages i like
23:26-!-xchat [~xchat@c-71-61-0-167.hsd1.pa.comcast.net] has quit [Quit: Leaving]
23:26<kenyon>mosno: hmm, I think because the Release files on mozilla.debian.net don't have the "NotAutomatic: yes" like real backports.debian.org does
23:26-!-aranax [~aranax@200.49.190.98] has joined #debian
23:27<kenyon>so I think you could use apt pinning to force all squeeze-backports to some priority <500
23:27<kenyon>but if you're going to install mozilla stuff from mozilla.debian.net anyway, you'll be installing those packages that it wants to upgrade right now

23:34<mosno>kenyon: i am happy for deps to be pulled in when i explicitly want to install something, but not for outside packages to just take priority for no reason other than that they're available
23:36<mosno>kenyon: is there a way to override a Release file?
23:36<mosno>kenyon: ie. so i can add that NotAutomatic thing
