12:39<lindi->jardiamj: which one is correct?
12:39<jardiamj>When suspending it gives this error: ACPI: Unable to dock
12:39<jardiamj>I don't know which one is correct, I assumed the 10% for I just brought it back from suspended mode
12:40<jardiamj>I have searched all over for the ACPI: Unable to dock message but found close to nothing, some posts in russian and other languages.
12:40<lindi->jardiamj: it might be unrelated
12:41<lindi->jardiamj: I would try repeating this a few times
12:41<jardiamj>how could I go about trouble shutting the problem
12:41<lindi->jardiamj: but figuring out the real cause can be difficult
12:42<jardiamj>besided restarting the laptop doesn't fix the problem, but shutting down and then turning it on again does..
12:42<jardiamj>*besides... sorry for the typo
12:43<lindi->jardiamj: so it prints 99% after shutdown+boot?
12:43<lindi->jardiamj: or still 10%?
12:43<jardiamj>it still 10% but when plug it to AC it's still 10% and charging, so it's working

12:46<jardiamj>so you think that the ACPI: Unable to dock is not related with the weird behavior of the power management applet..
12:46<lindi->jardiamj: not sure
12:46<jardiamj>This is so weird and I don't know where to start investigating the problem..
12:46<lindi->jardiamj: usually the battery is monitored by the EC which is mapped to some io memory address which is then read by functions written in ACPI bytecode that linux interprets
12:47<lindi->jardiamj: so even a "bios upgrade" might fix this

23:08<dropdead>Hey all, having some troubles with my D-Link DWA-131 USB Wireless. I've been able to get the device to install and it will list the networks (through iwlist scan wlan0) when I start it up. However when I try to connect to a network using wpasupplicant, or wicd or something like that, it doesn't connect. wlan0 address changes from its mac address to nothing, and I'm not able to see any networks. Any ideas on how to connec to a WPA ne
23:08<dropdead>twork?
23:10<dropdead>Seems kind of complicated to have people messing with /etc/networking/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf as well as identifying their own modules and drivers and then requiring people to know how to use wpa_supplicant properly.
23:10<dropdead>I don't know but I think windows might have debian beat in terms ease of usb wifi connectivity.

23:14<stderr>dropdead: As far as I remember, I didn't have to do a lot of configuration beyond starting wicd.
23:15<dropdead>oh man i wish that was the case for me
23:15<stderr>But maybe I just forgot all about it...
23:15<dropdead>been going at this all day
23:15<dropdead>i probably would of given up a long time ago, but i'm able to atleast see my network in an iwlist wlan0 scan
23:15<dropdead>so i know theres atleast some functionality here
23:16<dropdead>but im wondering if this driver isnt all there
23:16<dropdead>or if wpasupplicant or wicd is messing up some other settings
23:17<stderr>Have you checked syslog and friends? Maybe you're missing some firmware.
23:17<dropdead>i got the firmware from the debian wiki and followed all the directions... i've been through manpages, forums, tutorials, wikis, you name it. Appearently the device is supported but i'm not really sure why its not able to connect to a network

23:19<dropdead>i guess i could take the security off my router and try it like that, but i dont really think that if its a choice between of keeping debian and having an insecure network, i might go to ubuntu, i hear they dont have this issue... appearently they've got some sort of script that detects your card, sets up the necessary modules/drivers/firmware, and its ready to rock
23:19<dropdead>is there a way to connect to a wpa network through iwconfig ?
23:21<dropdead>the man pages says nothing about wpa but there is a key option
