01:30<Planet8>I'm getting false authentication failures in logwatch in the pam_unix section with dovecot.
01:31<Planet8>It looks like this..
01:31<Planet8>authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=dovecot ruser=foo@bar.com rhost=xx.xxx.xxx.xx : 11 Time(s)
01:31<Planet8>I know the user is legitimate and haven't had any authentication failures and I know the IP.
01:31<Planet8>Is this perhaps a bug in dovecot or logwatch or something?

01:43<Planet8>Yes
01:43<Planet8>But I just found out I needed to comment out the PAM section of dovecot.conf since I'm using mysql as authentication. Apparently the PAM part is setup by default.
01:43<Bushmills>that's in auth.log, it seems
01:44<Planet8>yes
01:44<Planet8>I guess I must have overlooked it when I installed dovecot.
01:44<Bushmills>seems more a problem with pam or pam config than with dovecot
01:45<Planet8>it's in the dovecot.conf PAM section

01:47<Planet8>Apparently one has to comment out the "passdb pam" part in dovecot.conf that deals with system users. Otherwise Dovecot will also look for system users when someone fetches emails which leads to warnings in the log file.
01:48<Bushmills>body of passdb pam *is* commented out completely by default
01:50<Planet8>Not on my installation with squeeze.

17:49<Black_Prince>Wait ... is hostname setup on machine you are connecting to or machine you are connecting from?
17:50<splic1>I'm able to resolve the host I'm exporting to from the host that I'm exporting from
17:50<splic1>but maybe just not at boot?
17:51<Black_Prince>You want to mount nfs at boot?
