03:17<chl501>if i attach a new vbox disk, how can i know if it is mounted (and which dev) so i can run mkfs?
03:19<EmleyMoor>chl501: What exactly are you attacthing where?
03:19<chl501>i use virtualbox gui.
03:20<chl501>and in one of instance, i configure its setting by adding a new virtual hard disk to an existing system.
03:20<chl501>so i have 2 disk attached to 1 virtualbox storage
03:21<chl501>1 is already configured and running eg. ext3
03:21<EmleyMoor>Right - is that virtual machine running Debian?
03:21<chl501>yes.

08:30<OpenTokix>I use it fullscreen on a desktop. Very nice, especially when you handle many identical machines.

08:34<kooll>that's not the wm job. On the tab side, yes, probably :)

08:38<kooll>yes. the backlog thing, I will have to study a bit. pretty sure it would mess up screen anyway, which can handle its own backlog. The awesome feature I see for me on terminator is ... multiplatform. So I can recommend it to some people using terminal.app and then I can actually borrow their term to do some stuff and endure less suffering ;)

13:23<cahoot>mount it with umask 0
13:23<jordanm>edbian: not being able to chmod/chown is normal for vfat, since it doesn't support UNIX permissions

13:23<dpkg>To get write access to a <vfat> partition when mounting it with fstab, use the line "/dev/partition /mount/point vfat defaults,user,uid=USERID,gid=GROUPID,umask=002 0 0" in /etc/fstab. umask=002 will make the partition rwxrwxr-x, while umask=022 will make it rwxr-xr-x. 15:17<halo>i have a 8600 nvidia notebook card
15:17<Nemoder_>did you use nvidia's isntaller?
15:17<halo>if i look in lsmod it's loaded
15:18<halo>Nemoder_, yes, with --uninstall option
15:18<retrospectacus>halo: fix xorg.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-?conf and reboot
15:18<Nemoder_>there is also a nvidia-installer-cleanup package
15:19<lenka>babilen, I've figured it out - my /etc/apt/preferences file was b0rked
15:19<halo>what do u mean with fix? in xorg simply change nvidia with nouveau?
15:19<retrospectacus>halo: yes
15:19<halo>Nemoder_, i used the .run from nvidia site
15:19<devil>halo: you might rename corg.conf, if you dont need it for any other reason
15:19<devil>xorg.conf even
15:20<halo>retrospectacus, and in nvidia-?.conf ? never touched that file
15:20<Nemoder_>halo: yes, the cleanup package helps fix the system if you used the .run file
15:20<retrospectacus>halo: there should be a file there blacklisting the nouveau module, you need to fix that
