03:17<chl501>if i attach a new vbox disk, how can i know if it is mounted (and which dev) so i can run mkfs?
03:19<EmleyMoor>chl501: What exactly are you attacthing where?
03:19<chl501>i use virtualbox gui.
03:20<chl501>and in one of instance, i configure its setting by adding a new virtual hard disk to an existing system.
03:20<chl501>so i have 2 disk attached to 1 virtualbox storage
03:21<chl501>1 is already configured and running eg. ext3

03:24<EmleyMoor>You'd therefore need to partition it with, say, cfdisk

08:26<kam>rest without
08:26<lastwill>well i rebuilt my sources.list and now i can find the xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd package.
08:26<uggwar>kam: you can run simpler window managers, like openbox
08:26<XeonBloomfield>kam: use text mode; if necessary start X, after that turn off it - that is all ;)
08:26<kam>i just thought i can run from console something like this
08:26<kooll>kam: what I do is : I use a rather simple window manager, have my graphic stuff (chrome and a few others) on separate desktops, and the rest is full of xterm
08:27<kam>"firefox start with gui"
08:27<kam>or maybe
08:27-!-lastwill [~will@] has quit [Quit: Quitte]
08:27<kooll>kam: the thing is ... you could do that. You would need to switch between x server and your other terminals

08:27<kam>firefox - start with x
08:28<kooll>it's a bit annoying to switch in and out of Xorg, usually
08:28<uggwar>kam: you seems like the type that should try out window managers like xmonad, openbox, awesome, etc. :)
08:29<kooll>(so far I went through fluxbox, openbox, ratpoison, and now i3 ;) )
08:29<uggwar>hehe, know the routine :)
08:29<OpenTokix>kooll: Let me suggest the terminal terminator
08:29<uggwar>i usually install kde for it's apps, and the run openbox
08:30<uggwar>OpenTokix: yeah, that is nice
08:30<OpenTokix>I use it fullscreen on a desktop. Very nice, especially when you handle many identical machines.
08:31<kooll>hmm. it would take me quite a lot of time to forget about my xterm habits. But, yes, I will consider it ;)
08:32-!-toto42 [] has joined #debian
08:32<uggwar>the same, or even better, terminal handling can be achieved with awesome i think
08:32<uggwar>(or any of the tiling wms)
08:34<kooll>uggwar: no, no. terminator does some things inside the terminal that are harder to do with xterm. (like unlimited backlog or not scrolling when there's output if users has scrolled back)
08:34<kooll>that's not the wm job. On the tab side, yes, probably :)

08:38<kooll>yes. the backlog thing, I will have to study a bit. pretty sure it would mess up screen anyway, which can handle its own backlog. The awesome feature I see for me on terminator is ... multiplatform. So I can recommend it to some people using and then I can actually borrow their term to do some stuff and endure less suffering ;)

11:38<hipy>abrotman, i had problems with packages that were out of date, for example i had themes not working good due to this problem
11:38<Unable>btw, does anybody know when the gnome 3 is coming?
11:38<hipy>anyway, when gnome3 comes to debian i will go to mint since it has a custom overlay over gnome3/ a fork of gnome2 called mate
11:38<hipy>But what will happen if i remove my sid repository
11:38<hipy>will it downgrade everything, will i get mismatches?
11:39<hipy>or am i just completely screwed
