02:57<d9b>text is too big
02:57<Zaba>you mean the vga console?
02:58<Zaba>you need a framebuffer driver to have a higher resolution on those
02:58<Zaba>and as far as I know, you can't change it easily after bootup anyway
03:00<d9b>its weird, during livecd bootup the text changes sizes to where I want it, but after doing a standard install with no GUI it remains large

05:52<metaspike>otherwise, i suggest one does not run scripts from the internet without truely understanding what they do as such there can be unreconisable consequences. if all else fails, maybe you can change the subnet on the TV itself, consider the firewall of course if you are running one. hope this helps.

14:29<Brandon>HI there! Wich GUI tool do you use to administrate your mysql database from home ?
14:30-!-RodolfoRG [~RodolfoRG@] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
14:30<jordanm>Brandon: from home? what kind of administration?
14:31<Brandon>jordanm: I mean like "mysql-nabiguator", "mysql-client", "mysql-admin"
14:31<Brandon>"mysql-query-browser" too
14:32<Brandon>I just can't make a decision on wich to use
14:32<jordanm>Brandon: what are you trying to accomplish? essentially all mysql clients can connect to a remote mysql instance, but that's not what I would consider "administration"
14:33<jordanm>although, I am not specifically a DBA...
14:33<Brandon>jordanm: I would like to administrate my DB as I used to with phpmyadmin
14:34<Brandon>making backups, managing tables and datas, users, databases...
14:34<jordanm>Brandon: I would just use mysql-client, assuming the database accepts remote connections
14:34<Brandon>Well it does, I think
14:35<Brandon>Actually it doesn't
14:35<jordanm>and mysqldump for the backups
14:35<Brandon>It would be unsecure

14:35<jordanm>depends on the configuration. not nescessarily insecure, but not PCI compliant
14:36<jhutchins_lt>Brandon: I generally try to learn to use the text client and ssh, but I usually have phpmyadmin for when I really need to get something done.
14:36<jordanm>that basically leaves you with ssh + mysql-client/mysqldump or phpmyadmin

14:37<Brandon>Well with this: ssh -N -L 3307: root@server
14:38<Brandon>You are able to connect in a SSH tunnel and then redirects the tunnel to the port where mysql is listenning to
14:38<Brandon>So you can use mysql-client and have mysql closed to any remote connection
14:38<jhutchins_lt>Brandon: I seem to have missed the "why not phpmyadmin" part.

20:33<g0rs>nevyn: does it include hardware drivers?
20:33<g0rs>i thought it included hardware drivers, i could be wrong though
20:34<nevyn>so theres a way to "talk" to a sound device (called a pcm in alsa speak"
20:34<nevyn>a pcm might be a physical card.
20:34<nevyn>or a bluetooth audio adapter
20:34<nevyn>or a soundserver (like pulseaudio)
20:34<nevyn>or any sort of alsa plugin that says it's a pcm.
20:35<g0rs>nevyn: im not familiar with all of its terminology
20:35<nevyn>alsa is also a bunch of libraries for enumerating the availible pcm's on the system, querying their capabilities etc etc.
20:35<g0rs>pcm is a type of audio modulation

20:37-!-arand [] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
20:38<nevyn>and alsa is also used to describe the low level drivers in the kernel that initialise and configure audio hardwar
20:38<g0rs>on a broader level, also provides signal conditioning , buffering and queueing as you've said
20:38<nevyn>so alsa is a very overloaded term (much like "linux"
