01:10<scraze>tp43: does the sdcard usb mount as Mass Storage? In that case it should work the same as with a normal usb key, which I like to write a netinst iso to, works fine

01:14-!-cybersphinx [] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
01:15<scraze>catting directly after unmount works fine for me, I don't think formatting it will make the resulting mbr & first partition different, although the remainder of the disk will be clean then .. perhaps it's a preference thing :]
01:15<tp43>debian is using bsd these days eh?

01:19<tp43>I have a hidden partition, how can unhide and use it?
01:19<scraze>I guess that comes down to the freeBSD kernel, which I know absolutely nothing of :]
01:19<tp43>scraze, I am dl'ing the standard one
01:20<scraze>hmm, hidden in which way? it doesn't show up in the partition table?
01:20<tp43>scraze, yeah, it must be hidden in the bios, but I couldn't find how to unhide it
01:21<jello>did you try : "mount" in the commandline

01:21<scraze>seems hdparm can show which sectors of the disk are hidden, hdparm -N /dev/sdX

01:21<scraze>can't see how that applies to the partition table though
01:22<tp43>when I look at my disk using cfdisk, i don't see it, i forget where I saw it, but it is definiely there, but I do see in cfdisk "unuseable 2.6*" but I am guessing thats very small and due to fact I used up my primary partitions and stuff
01:22<scraze>yes, a bit of remainder is common
01:23<tp43>max sectors = 156301488/156301488, HPA is disabled
01:23<tp43>whatever that means

01:25<scraze>there is indeed a "hidden" flag for partitions
01:25<tp43>can I run gparted while I am booted in, cause I usually used it using a live cd

03:08<eightyeight>sisk: depends on what you want to do, but you can get debian fairly light. i don't know about 64MB RAM light, however

03:15<eightyeight>try it and see, i guess. with only 64MB of RAM, you are probably limited to TWM, dwm or wmii for the "gui", if it will work
03:15<eightyeight>you might need to roll your own kernel, and trim as much fat there as possible

03:19<scraze>tp43: aptitude -r install alsa-utils should take care of the userspace stuff, the kernel has alsa drivers by default (which may or may not be doing the job), make sure all relevant channels are unmuted & on correct volume and that soundcard switches are set to the right values (alsamixer -> press F5, at the bottom of channels is MM / OO, M = muted, unmute with M)
03:20<tp43>scraze, I had to un mute it, which I thought I did when I ran alsamixer in terminal, but it didn't
