18:56<ompaul>dc4481: no only the bottom line matters - if you care about source if you make a second one which is deb-src then apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade and know this there is no way back once you do that other than a clean install
18:56<ompaul>dc4481: also know unstable breaks and does not work
18:56<ompaul>dc4481: change unstable for sid (almost missed that)
18:57<Diablo>Hello, does someone know how to copy files in different folders, to the same location and with the same extension? Thanks. PS: I've tried cp -r *.xxx location, it's not working.
18:57<dc4481>ompaul: thanks for the response. so is this all i need then: "deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free" ?
18:57<ompaul>no
18:57<ompaul>you need to replace unstable with sid
18:57<dc4481>ah..ok
18:58<dc4481>so only "deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian sid main contrib non-free"
18:58<daemonkeeper>Well, for sid that's pretty much the same.
18:58<dc4481>and since there are no security updates, i dont need a source for that?
18:58<ompaul>dc correct
18:58<daemonkeeper>It makes a difference for stable and testing in particular. But for sid it does not matter whether to use "sid" or "unstable"
18:59<dc4481>nice...so "only the bottom line matters" means that in my pastbin, "stable" isn't used at all ?
18:59<dc4481>daemonkeeper: thanks for that info
18:59<ompaul>Diablo: cp /home/foo/*.xxx /home/foo/nananana/.
19:00<ompaul>Diablo: or else your question is how do I get all the .doc files and copy them somewhere?
19:00<daemonkeeper>dc4481: Debian picks the newest version available among all suites you enabled.
19:00<Diablo>ompaul: i'll try, but I think I need the -r to go into the folders no matter the level
19:00<dc4481>ok..and it ONLY gets packages from the newest ?
19:01<daemonkeeper>Yes. You can force apt not to do that, but that's a bad idea, ehrm, just like mixing suites.

20:48<babilen>joseph_: Well, then use another larger resolution. You should probably pick one with the same aspect ratio. (e.g. 1366x768)

20:49<pcg2>yeah
20:49<joseph_>babilen, the "info" you've showed to me is teaching how configure grub resolution?
20:50<pcg2>those cards use to work flawlessly in linux 6 or7 years ago... at least they did for me

20:50<babilen>pcg2: As if it wouldn't be enough to lump a plethora of NICs together with the same PCIID, they also produce crappy cards. The interesting error message here is "region #1 not an MMIO resource, aborting" which yields a number of hits, but I haven't seen this particular problem before.
20:51<pcg2>ah okay, sounds like i should just order a new nic off newegg
20:51<pcg2>getting a 6 year old card to work again doesn't sound worthwhile
20:52<babilen>pcg2: Well, I am sure that we would be able to fix this issue, but I have no idea how long it would take. (I will not delve into the linux kernel at this hour) -- One relatively straightforward thing to try are different kernels and in particular a backported .39 (/msg dpkg bdo kernel)
20:53<pcg2>yeah, doesn't seem worth it to me right now.... a new nic is less than $25
20:53<babilen>pcg2: I am, however, really not sure if an even newer kernel will provide better results. A new NIC is certainly not a bad idea.
20:54<joseph_>babilen, is correct change this file? /etc/default/grub or Must I change another file?
20:54<pcg2>thanks for the help!
