00:32<fenris>sney: I know its difficult, as its a very new technology and many people dont either use it nor needed, but im kind of stuck with it, the other option is to reinstall everything in MBR mode but ... we are talking 3 OSes with all their software all over again!!
00:32<sney>yeah that would be annoying
00:33<sney>I guess it's a mac pro or something?
00:33<fenris>so ... if there is a chance to ... at least, chainload grub2 uefi with grub2 mbr ... I'll be happy to try it
00:34<fenris>no, no, im doing it from PC, similar specs though, but a PC after all

02:44<kop>luis46: You could try the dmm repo or other alternatives. See http://wiki.debian.org/DebianSoftware and check out the multimedia section.
02:44<luis46>not sure i am at in the right place to ask for help ?
02:45<kop>luis46: You're using debian?
02:45<luis46>ubuntu
02:45<kop>!ubuntu
02:45<dpkg>Ubuntu is based on Debian, but it is not Debian. Only Debian is supported on #debian. Use #ubuntu (irc.freenode.net) instead. Even if the channel happens to be less helpful, support for distributions other than Debian is offtopic on #debian. See also <based on debian>.
02:46<kop>luis46: You need another irc channel.
02:46<luis46>ok thanks for that .

To install: "aptitude install grub grub-doc" ("aptitude install grub-legacy grub-legacy-doc" for Squeeze). To reinstall, ask me about <fixmbr>. To migrate from LILO, ask about <lilo->grub>. See also <grub errors>, <grub2>, <supergrub>. http://wiki.debian.org/Grub

Manual: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html . See also <grub2 squeeze>, <grub2 config>, http://wiki.debian.org/GrubTransition . #grub on irc.freenode.net.

09:15<wab>can anyone know the solution for instaling debian wheezy? I'm get (2 days ago) first dvd testing snapshot, and run installer on my desktop PC. On dvd menu usb keyboard work fine, but when linux start, keyboard and mouse (usb too) don't work, and I cannot configure my installation. What to do ?
09:16<wab>of course squeeze installer or other distros works fine,
09:16<Otkrick>XeonBloomfield: for example. I have two physical "nodes" with KVM and two interfaces. Virt. machine can migrate without problems, when it has alias to virtual adapter

23:42<sney>jason_: well, I'm not sure what your real question is, but if you want the code to run natively on your mips system and your build system is not mips, then you do want to cross compile. it's a chore though.
23:42<sney>Fighter747: I wasn't here for the beginning of your issue. what's wrong with 'aptitude install gnome'?
23:43<Fighter747>so I tried tasksel install gnome-desktop --new-install again
23:43<Fighter747>now it says "tasksel: aptitude failed (255)"

23:45<matoc>Fighter747: maybe you should try what sney sugest and just do: apt-get install gnome
23:46<Fighter747>E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
23:46<matoc>Fighter747: that basically the same as using tasksel to install the gnome-dekstop
23:46<Fighter747>E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?
23:46<matoc>Fighter747: that means there is an other process updating or installing something.

23:47<matoc>Fighter747: maybe you should reboot so that other process is properly killed...
23:47<Fighter747>what's the quickest way to reset a linux system?
23:48<matoc>reboot
23:48<matoc>as root

23:58<deansu>does anyone know if openssh on squeeze supports Match in ssh_config? the manpage doesn't mention it, nor does anything in /usr/share/doc/ssh/ in any serious way (ie removed/disabled) and I get an error using it in /etc/ssh/ssh_config
23:59<sney>that sounds like a no, then
