00:30<pparadis>xhee: i don't think the community support channels for either debian or ubuntu have anything to do with someone hacking some site.

01:11<K0JIbKA>any suggestions on ? About 'initscripts'?
01:12<scientes_>K0JIbKA, use chromium in the debian repository, not chrome
01:13<Mortchek>When running `Xorg -configure` as the ConfigureX page suggests, I get: "Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices. Configuration failed." /root/ is still written. Is it unsafe to use?
01:13<craigevil>chrome works just fine
01:13<scientes_>K0JIbKA, also, to output english, which other people understand use LANG=C
01:13<scientes_>craigevil, chrome is nonfree software
01:13<craigevil>who gives a crap it still works
01:14<craigevil>results of vrms: 19 non-free packages, 1.0% of 1897 installed packages. 3 contrib packages, 0.2% of 1897 installed packages.

It should be noted that a working d-i is not a priority at this point in the release cycle and that wheezy is currently uninstallable. Would an installer image with a newer kernel (e.g. "/msg dpkg kmuto") remedy the situation or do you need the testing d-i?
06:15<alephnull>babilen: To be honest, I'm not sure. I'd rather get this EFI thing done with at the beginning rather than after a while. Hence, my choice for a daily.

14:22<cybertop>how can i resolve this problem?
14:22<pparadis>to upgrade from stable to testing, you'd need to update your /etc/apt/sources.list, apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade. are those the steps you took?
14:23<pparadis>but again, do you really need to update your entire system to testing?
14:23<dpkg>A backport is a package from a newer Debian branch, compiled from source for an older branch to avoid dependency and <ABI> complications. (2.7.4 and 2.7.10), . Ask me about <debian-backports> and <backport caveat>. See also <simple sid backport>.

17:58<Michal2>Hi here, I have a question regarding crontab. It creates a lot of processes of /USR/SBIN/CRON, which on strace -p hang on wait4() and they fork children processes which hang at read() as strace suggests. There are hundreds of such processes in my system and I cannot find the source. Does anyone have any idea what may cause that or could anyone suggest me any way to debug it or find source of such strange behaviour?

18:12<pparadis>nezzario: there doesn't appear to be a backport for that package, but if you're only using testing for that one thing, i'd probably consider running stable and compiling it from source instead. that said, if you're not running much else on the system and are okay with things possibly breaking, you might be okay with testing.
18:12<pparadis>it's up to you, of course.
