00:00<youlysses>user01: That come's preinstalled with debian, sold in-store?
00:00<user01>im guessing not only because debian seems like something for getting work done rather thank dicking around on a tablet
00:00<bingo>need to how much you make a year. if you don't want to give exact just a ballpark and what languages you work with
00:01<user01>youlysses, yes perhaps, or something you could build maybe with one of those pixelqi screens would be good
00:01<sney>bingo why not just go to salary.com or whtever
00:02<sney>besides, I think most people who are active here are more of the sysadmin flavour
00:02<user01>put a beagleboard on pixelqi screen would be interesting, but the videos make that look pretty think
00:02<youlysses>bingo: I'm a student, so I'm in the negative. :-P I'm most active in C though, but that's many because I'm intrested in GNU's userland. You might want to ask in #debian-offtopic though.

00:03<bingo>salary.com just has averages and not sure about their sources
00:03<bingo>thanks@youl
00:04<user01>im disappointed that the nexus 7 for example doesnt have microsd though it does have micro usb port so i guess you could just duct tape a TB portable hard drive to the back
00:04<user01>id rather have a debian tablet though

00:08<user01>ill probably end up getting something . . . before then though, would be nice to have something to read books on at least . . .
00:08<youlysses>user01: I believe the "transformer" is still embeded, but yes that form-factor.

13:22<user01>debian uses dash by default, right?
13:22<daemonkeeper>FSVO default
13:23<daemonkeeper>dash is the default /bin/sh, but bash is the default (user) shell.
13:23<user01>what would happen if i tried to uninstall bash i wonder . . .
13:24<movl>user01: why?
13:24<daemonkeeper>user01: Bash is an essential package in Debian which makes it _really_ hard to get rid of it.
13:24<user01>movl, i wanted to see if it would give me a warning and it did
13:25<daemonkeeper>It gives you a huge warning :>
13:25<user01>but oddly it still let me say yes
13:25<daemonkeeper>Well, Debian does permit you to behave insane.
13:25<@Ganneff>if the user wants to be stupid, we wont take this freedom away.
13:26<@Ganneff>no, we tell them before that it would be really stupid. then afterwards WE have the freedom to laugh at the user.
13:26<@Ganneff>2 out of 4 very valuable freedoms!
13:27<daemonkeeper>What's 3 and 4?

19:42<leenuxx>hi, can someone help me with virtualbox?
19:42<diederik>leenuxx: what do you want to know?
19:42<leenuxx>I can't install the extension packs :-(

19:44<pparadis>oh my

19:50<diederik>On this channel ppl can help with debian related problems
19:50<pparadis>leenuxx: you may wish to contact the virtualbox team directly regarding these issues.
19:50<pparadis>leenuxx: or oracle.
19:50<diederik>chealer: it would install the pkg from sid/unstable as opposed to the default (be it stable/testing/etc)
19:51<chealer>diederik: that's what apt-get's -t sid does
19:52<diederik>chealer: thanks for the suggestion, it indeed does. apt-get --help doesn't list it though (aptitude --help does)
19:52<pparadis>man apt-get
19:52<pparadis>--help does not always list comprehensive options.
19:53<pparadis>see "-t, --target-release, --default-release" in the man page.

19:54<pparadis>they are completely different interfaces to apt.

23:17<xio3>i'm trying to get debian setup with cryptfs and everything. i installed grub-install /dev/sda and it now shows the grub stuff but goes to a black screen. any idea what the problem might be? i'm at a loss. i have uuid setup in /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab boot and /dev/mapper/crypt. is there something else i should be doing that i'm missing?
