18:45<rswarbrick>Hi there! I'm a bit confused about the stumpwm package being removed from testing. Can anyone tell me why? I'm failing miserably to understand the comments on the source package's page). If this is the wrong place to ask, can someone suggest a better one?
18:45<rswarbrick>It's http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/stumpwm.html, to save typing.
18:46<daemonkeeper>rswarbrick: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=649707
18:46<rswarbrick>Ok, I found that. Is a package with RC bugs automatically removed from testing?

18:47<rswarbrick>Would a fixed package plausibly be re-added or is it too late?

18:49<dondelelcaro>rswarbrick: not automatically, but it will certainly start happening as we get closer to release
18:49<rswarbrick>Right, so if I understand this correctly: If the maintainer uploads a version of the package that he/she documents as fixing the RC bug, then the release team might plausibly allow it.
18:49<dondelelcaro>rswarbrick: right, so long as that's all it does
18:50<dondelelcaro>rswarbrick: however, unrelated changes won't be let in, genreally speaking.
18:50<rswarbrick>That seems reasonable. Upstream here is pretty slow-moving, so that won't be an issue.

22:03<fx_>abrotman: the livecdd page has this to say: "One can use a ready CD or burn an ISOImage downloaded from the internet. Because of the large size of the image files many people use a download manager and, more actually, jigdo, for this. "

22:14<fx_>for stable
22:14*pparadis feeds his livecd half a can of dog food daily. gotta keep it live.
22:14<amitz>for what purpose is this live cd?
22:14<amitz>pparadis: hah
22:15<fx_>reinstalling. i want to be able to reinstall without downloading a lot of packages, so i figure installing froma livecd where all the packages needed to make the system work are already present makes most sense
22:15<pparadis>you're still going to have to update packages after you install.
22:15<fx_>true
22:16<pparadis>it typically makes much more sense to use a netinstall CD, so you're only downloading what you actually need in the first place, as opposed to full CDs or DVDs.
22:16<fx_>but the netinstall cd doesn'tr have things like lxde already on it
22:16<fx_>so i'd have to download all that
22:16<fx_>i want a cd i can install from with no or minimal further downloading of packages
22:16<amitz>i suggest apt-cacher-ng then
22:16<pparadis>you'd have to download it either way. the bits aren't free. :)

22:17<fx_>yes, but if i download the cd image once, then i already have it and don't have to worry about my network going down during the install
22:17<fx_>i am in a place with flaky network so this is a concern
22:18<fx_>apt-cacher-ng would make sense if i was installing a computer lab.. that is not what i am doing
22:19<amitz>if you use usb stick as live cd, then setup lovecd + apt-cacher with a cache on another partition of your usb stick. no fownload is necessary, i believe
22:19<amitz>just make sure to update the cache periodically.
22:20<fx_>maybe i should ask a different question. i am in a place with intermittent internet access. what is the best way to get a full desktop debian install onto my computer, assuming i only have one computer and one usb stick and the internet may crap out during the install process?
