02:49<reklipz>I've got a funky issue regarding vim: Whenever I edit a file in vim (while using a specific colorscheme), and I open a man page after closing vim, the background of the man page where there is not text (the "page" background, if you will) is the bg color from vim. It "goes away" (repaints to the expected background color, to be the same as the bg of the text) if I scroll, or close and reopen the man page.

02:51<reklipz>TERM="gnome-256color"
02:51<ompaul>I use konsole and don't muck around with colours, I tend toward if it is not green on black I want it to be green on black
02:52<ompaul>the first computer I used had that scheme, the second was orange on black and the third was white on black
02:52<reklipz>ompaul: I see. I prefer using color schemes and syntax highlighting when writing code.

05:30<babilen>Yeah, that is likely to be a lot of work to backport -- I guess that you would have to upgrade quite a number of packages to their respective version in wheezy.
05:31<reklipz>It's to the point that I may as well just upgrade to Wheezy.
05:31<seeS>isnt there some connection with gcc and libstdc?

05:31<reklipz>Yes, and that's the reason. I'm just going to build from source for the time being.
05:31<babilen>In those cases I typically just run it on a testing/unstable box or fire up a KVM virtual machine to provide that service.
05:32<Zw>SynrG: I'm trying to install squeeze on it, but it does not detect the raid controller, is there already a way to get squeeze installed on it ?
05:32<babilen>reklipz: What do you need g++ (4.6, 4.7?) for?

05:34<babilen>reklipz: Well, either track wheezy, testing or unstable (I personally very much prefer the latter) or work in a VM (kvm) that is hosted on squeeze.
05:34<SynrG>Zw: it's a known issue. see http://bugs.debian.org/666108
05:35<reklipz>Zw: Isn't the PERC RAID controller purely hardware raid? You'll need to setup the drives/volumes/redundancy via the BIOS Option ROM, or whatever mechanism the controller requires.
05:35<reklipz>babilen: Yeah, I need to jump up to testing; it's pretty damned stable, :).
05:35<SynrG>Zw: see http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/ for those alternative images.

I wouldn't say that they are tested, at least not comparable to the degree versions in stable have been tested. It is a *very* bad idea to mix stable with testing/unstable or experimental though so that is out of the question.

08:34<bluenemo>hi guys, i had a server crash last night and i can not understand the logfiles fully. at half past 5 in the night i got: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 17163091987s, with lots of other output, we run a lot of rails apps, ruby is mentioned there too: Pid: 11495, comm: ruby Not tainted 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 MS-7522. this happened the first time so far. i did not use xen / kvm, all just on one machine (stupid i know).

11:00<vagabon>hello. I've a question regarding apt_preferences(5) man page. In the "Tracking Testing or Unstable" example, I don't understand why doing "apt-get install package/unstable" then "apt-get upgrade" would consider the most recent version of "unstable" (whose pin-prio is 800) since the priority of the version in "testing" is higher (900).

14:17<msergiu80>yes

16:36<aef_>I tried adding another install command to the Makefile's install task which copies the file to the correct place. But this doesn't add the file to the package. It only makes lintian complain about it not being marked as conffile and not being included in the package.
