03:30<superdeb>I want to watch videos using either framebuffer or svgalib when booting in text mode in Squeeze. That is no problem, however it does not work unless I use SUDO, which I want to avoid, how can I set things up so that non-superusers have access to svgalib and fbdev ?

03:32<nevyn>superdeb: do you have /dev/fbdev?
03:33<perlwizard>superdeb you probably need to add yourself to the group that has access to fbdev
03:33<perlwizard>check permissions on /dev/fbdev file
03:33<Marijn>What is the recommended practice regarding changing the php.ini configuration?
03:33<Marijn>Should I just add extra files to the /etc/php5/cli and /etc/php5/apache directories?
03:34<Marijn>That way I don't modify the bundled file to prevent duplicates on updating?
03:34<nevyn>superdeb: /dev/fb0 root video add the user to the video group
03:34<Marijn>Or should I just modify the php.ini files in those directories
03:34<Marijn>I'm building an automated deploy tool so I would prefer just to create new files
03:35<Marijn>but when I add additional config files to those directories they don't seem to be included
03:35<perlwizard>Marijn local.ini in /etc/php5/conf.d/
03:36<Marijn>Ok. I thought that the conf.d was only for the extensions

03:54<thomas>Hi all. I'm seeing slightly different behaviour between using: "dpkg -i some_deb.deb" and: "apt-get install some_deb" when "apt-get autoremove some_deb" is used. Assume "some_deb" is a meta-package. If I use: "dpkg -i *.deb" which installs all dependencies of "some_deb" including "some_deb" itself, and then issue: "apt-get autoremove some_deb" then only the some_deb metapackage is removed and NOT its dependencies. Yet, conversely
03:54<thomas>, if I just do: "apt-get install some_deb" -- and then issue: "apt-get autoremove some_deb", then some_deb AND its dependencies are removed. Why is there this discrepancy between how the debs are installed, versus which ones get removed?

20:26<traditional>dondelecaro: so, if libgtk is supported, i might have luck with xfce4:amd64?
20:27<dondelelcaro>traditional: no.
20:27<traditional>i suppose there's an efficient way to grep throught apt-search results for the Multi-Arch field.
20:27<dondelelcaro>traditional: libgtk2.0-0 is a library. xfce is not
