00:45<sney>hmm, it should display the desktop just fine with nouveau
00:45<SlitazMint>sney: Maybe installing proprietary drivers will help? I am going to install them sooner or later ana
00:46<SlitazMint>Anyway*
00:46<sney>ok, well use the debian packages, the nvidia.com installer doesn't play nice with debian
00:46<sney>it's worth a shot at least. and iirc the nvidia driver version in squeeze does support the 9xxx series, so you don't need to worry about backports right now
00:47<sney>!tell SlitazMint about nvidia dkms
00:47<sney>if any of the instructions dpkg just sent you are confusing, let this channel know which part and we'll clear it up for you
00:48<SlitazMint>sney: Thanks

04:23<niels>if it's in mbox format, it should be in /var/mail/username. use a mail reader to read it. like mailx or mutt
04:23<deavid>no, it isn't there; it was reconfigured... with nullmailer
04:23<deavid>but now i can't find where is sending the mails

04:25<deavid>yeah, i did... and i changed it; but now "/var/log/syslog" tells that is sending the emails, but i'm not receiving any
04:26<deavid>i'm going to test the email account... this must be something stupid
04:27<jm_>nullmailer only works as a relay, doesn't it?
04:27<TobiX>deavid: Install swaks and test with that :)
04:28<deavid>there's any command to produce a mail to my user?
04:28<niels>mail yourusername
04:28<deavid>yes, i'm going to remove nullmailer...

18:13<prappl93>Hi guys. I just installed Debian onto my computer using the GNOME Live DVD i386 edition, and I'm trying to get my Intel HD 3000 graphics card to work 100% of the way with it. Any suggestions for this? I found this: http://www.debianuserforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1849 but that's for the amd-64 architecture.

18:14<Analingus>You mean Debian?
18:14<prappl93>Obviously, but I'm referring to it as the GNOME one, since there are separate ones for different GUIs
18:15<Analingus>If your using squeeze I suggest strongly that you install the latest 3.2 kernel available from backports

19:10<MrFrood>!suspend
19:10<dpkg>Suspend can mean either suspend to disk (hibernate) or suspend to RAM. The in-kernel suspend system has worked well since Etch; kernel patches such as <tuxonice> provide more features. Installing the pm-utils or hibernate packages along with a front-end like gnome-power-manager or <kpowersave> should be enough. 19:34<retrospectacus>hi
19:34<retrospectacus>joo: yes, for Debian
19:34<retrospectacus>!ask
19:34<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.
19:34<joo>Brilliant, cheers :D
19:35<joo>I'm having issues getting my wacom bamboo tablet working, dmesg is detecting it being connected and identifying the manufacturer and product code, but I have no input
19:35<joo>I also can't poll it with cat, none of the options return anything when I use it

23:33<MTecknology>I just installed debian, xdm, and openbox. When xdm starts the resolution is really small and can't even fit all of the login box on the screen. I'm not sure what it should be, but it feels almost like 800x600
