00:10<pfizur>Is there a good guide out there for going from 5.0.10 to Wheezy? I tried just adding the repos to sources.list and doing apt-get update/upgrade/dist-upgrade but I got a bunch of errors.
00:10<themill>you need to upgrade from lenny to squeeze first. /msg dpkg lenny->squeeze; /msg dpkg squeeze->wheezy

00:16<pfizur>Thanks so much, though this is what I've tried. While updating I get the message "Depends: base-files (>= 5.0.0) but 5lenny11 is installed" Any idea what that's about? I've Googled it but I just get a bunch of code snippets.

00:24<themill>fun... you now have a mixture of lenny, squeeze and wheezy.
00:25<pfizur>Very much not what I was shooting for :O)
00:25<nevyn>themill: lemon squeeyz?
00:25-!-sabian2008 [~smuxi@190.191.141.124] has joined #debian
00:25<gry>that is a not so funny situation ><
00:26<pfizur>No, but a lemon squeeyz sounds like a good drink I could go for right now :)
00:27<themill>see if "aptitude install" can find a solution for you. I suspect it's not going to though.
00:27<themill>(I assume this isn't a VM that you can just go back to a previous snapshot...)
00:27<rjsalts>themill: where is the wheezy?
00:28<themill>rjsalts: libc6 dpkg apt

00:30<lpaco>hi
00:31<rjsalts>pfizur: you might be able to downgrade the packages from wheezy to the versions in squeeze manually
00:31<rjsalts>pfizur: dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/...

00:32<themill>I wonder if adding wheezy back in and pinning it below squeeze will allow apt to work out an upgrade path to squeeze
00:33<pfizur>I've not done CLI work like this in a while, is there a guide to doing so themill?
00:35<themill>I'm actually busy right now but there are plenty of others around who will help. (I'll look in from time to time if I can)
00:35<pfizur>Thanks!

02:49<stevenm_>i've found this works a bit better.... dpkg --get-selections | awk '{print $1}' | sort > installed.txt; comm -23 wanted.txt installed.txt
02:49<stevenm_>that aptitude was leaving a load of whitespace and comm couldn't handle it
02:50<themill>ah yeah. aptitude does that :(
02:50<themill>you could just run it through awk

02:52<SamB>mmm
02:52<themill>but I don't think you're going to worry about the couple of seconds it takes either one of them execute in any case.

06:04<nathakal>hi i always have problems like kernel bugs with my phenom amd . I don't understand a lot what tells the logs but it seems related with the ati drivers. I just keep on having freeze that force me to reboot , cause no more keyboard. Only way i've found to rescue when i have imortant things running background, is ssh connect and kill X .Do anyone experience the same troubles ? or is there a solution ? I have made a lot of tries changing kernel version or
06:04<nathakal>drivers versions but nothing really worked ... Thanks

08:34<SynrG>or rather than speculating, just look at the maintainer scripts of nagios3 and see ...
08:34<asfethan>it didn't
08:34<SynrG>or else the people reporting "just works" after install are talking about a different release ... or they're just confused ... or you misread what they said :)

16:22<retrospectacus>!raspberry
16:22<dpkg>The Raspberry Pi is an open hardware design based on a Broadcom system-on-a-chip, requiring <non-free> <firmware>. Debian's <armel> port works fine, but does not use the Pi's hardware floating point unit. Debian's <armhf> port (wheezy onwards) targets a newer revision of the ARM chip than is in the Pi, so armhf will not work on it. http://wiki.debian.org/RaspberryPi http://www.raspberrypi.org/ #raspberrypi on irc.freenode.net.

23:38<splice>ectospasm the new one is prolly going to be a twice as big as the first one. Was wondering if I could expanded it in gparted and not lose aliment. I use a BBP at 1024
23:39<splice>and then GPT for the partition

23:40<ectospasm>I'd copy using dd, then try to use whatever parted tools you want to expand the new disk. If it doesn't work, you haven't lost anything (yet)
23:40<splice>true true.
23:41<ectospasm>just be sure you get the if= and of= right (-;
23:42<splice>Was kind of wondering if I could get the sdx from fdisk since that tool does not like GPT?
