05:47<DataGhostS>running wheezy, I made a package which depends on specific versions of other packages, which I have also included in my repository with Label=xxx. I have a 1001 pin on * with l=xxx yet apt still insists on installing the versions from the debian repo and not mine. If I apt-get -s install package=version on all the dependencies apt complains about, they run fine. what's the deal?

08:38<kiree>Hi, im using Arno-iptables-firewall but for some reason when i scan myself with GRC (https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2) it shows that ports: 135, 445 are closed and everything else is stealthed? Im trying to find a setting of why these ports are closed and not stealthed but im failing. Anyone have a idea?

14:14<babilen_>qmr: I would recommend to upgrade to wheezy. See "/msg dpkg squeeze->wheezy" for details on that process. Your alternative would be to install Python manually to /usr/local -- I would "manage" that installation with stow and make sure to delete /usr/local/bin/python -- I would *not* recommend to backport py2.7 as that will influence the system's Python. See <stow usage> for details on stow.

You have no sensible way of doing that and simply have to rely on a "make uninstall" step provided by either or hunt down every single file it installed manually. With stow they both live separately in /usr/local/stow/python2.7 and /usr/local/stow/perl6 and you can remove either by running ...
14:19<babilen_>... /usr/local/stow/python2.7 or /usr/local/stow/perl6 respectively
