03:40<Stummi>please specify "weird"
03:40<PaulePanter>daswort: No idea. Maybe upload an image, so people know what weird means.
03:40<daswort>oh, in /etc/lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter.conf the theme is adwaita. Looks like thats the problem. Anybody knows how the theme in the screenshot is called.

03:54-!-kevbot [] has joined #debian
03:54<renolse>Is this the way it is supposed to be? Was defenately not like that in squueze.
03:55<weasel>it's a result of doing away with /etc/mtab. It's a shame.
03:55<renolse>A big step backwards imo.

03:56-!-freedomrun [] has quit [Quit: So long and thanks for all the fish]
03:56<renolse>The real issue is that with the df command theose -bind mounts shows up as real devices.
03:57-!-_Qman [~Qman@] has joined #debian
03:57<renolse>If you have a device sdb3 that you -bind mount in 4 locations, then /dev/sdb3 will show
03:58<renolse>up 4 times in df showing the same amount of space free and all.
03:59<renolse>So for example the --total switch for df is totally useless now. Since it will count the same space 4 times.

04:30<renolse>df doesn't show -bind mounts, and the mount command lists them as binds.

18:30<SamB>ltuna: that's not needed
18:30<dpkg>Multiarch allows you to install foreign architecture packages. For example, to allow i386 packages to be installed on an amd64 system: «dpkg --add-architecture i386 && apt-get update». See and <multiarch howto>, <multiarch failures>. For the unrelated installer that can install i386 or amd64, see <multi-arch installer>.

22:38<Ensayia>I'm a new-ish linux user. I did a minimal wheezy install, then installed the i3 window manager. What is the preferred method of having my WM start after I login? I don't really need a login manger so if there's a way I can have it simply startx after login that would be fantastic.

22:40<sney>well, there's nodm but that would take logging in out of the equation. you can also put commands in ~/.bash_profile
22:40<Ensayia>I have a .profile in my home directory, should I use that or explicitly create a .bash_profile?
22:41<sney>.profile works too.
22:41<Ensayia>appending the command to the end of the file should be fine, correct?
22:42<sney>you may need to prepend 'exec' but it should be fine on its own
22:42<sney>also, any time you're scripting something it helps to use full paths

22:43<Ensayia>Ah. I was not familiar with what startx even was.
22:43<Ensayia>I just know that it worked. I will keep that in mind.
22:44<sney>yeah it makes xinit sane

22:45<Ensayia>Odd. Now i3 won't start. Do I have to explicitly install X as well?
22:45<sney>if startx was working already, then you have X
22:46<Ensayia>working with a clean install this time around, apparently it was not.
22:46<sney>but no, not every window manager requires X to be installed, since they can be used remotely as well over something like a vnc server

22:48<Ensayia>there, aftger installing the xorg package all is well
22:48<Ensayia>I added startx to my .profile, and it works.
22:48<Ensayia>Well, thanks. Evidently my google-fu was not strong tonight,.
22:48<sney>you may need the xserver-xorg-video-whatever package for your particular gpu as well, depending on what dependencies you got
22:48-!-vsayer [] has joined #debian
22:49<sney>X stuff is usually a pain, it's an obsolete piece of software overdue for a replacement
22:49<Ensayia>I'm running in virtualbox, and have the guest untilities installed. From what I understand that takes care of things for me.

22:49<ixi>I think xorg pulls in xserver-xorg-video-all by default
22:49<sney>ah, vbox. yeah it should be
22:49<Ensayia>I'm a Windows guy so I run in a VM for now. I'm learning! lol
22:50<sney>VMs are good for learning because you can break them and not worry
22:51<Ensayia>I'm doing a lot less breaking these days. I have been distro hopping, looking for a place to settle in. I've done everything from Ubintu to Crunchbang, to Arch.
