06:21<babilen>galileo: That shouldn't be necessary if you installed the nvidia driver in a recommended way (see the wiki page that has been pointed out earlier) as that ships with a suitable blacklist file already.
06:22<babilen>(did you reboot after installing it?)
06:22<towo^work>maybe he has not rebootet the system after installing the driver
06:22<babilen>galileo: How did you install the driver?
06:23<galileo>i installed nvidia closed drivers from the repos, anyway i followed the wiki and apt-get didn't blacklisted nouveau

06:26<galileo>i installed it with "apt-get install nvidia-kernel-common" (after linux-headers)
06:27<galileo>no sir, the file it's not present (nvidia-kernel-common.conf)
06:28<ixi>galileo did you read my second link
06:28<galileo>i followed the nvidia wiki on debian site, but without luck

06:32<galileo>well, i installed like the way you said, but i can't post anything due to isolation of the machine

06:33<babilen>galileo: No, you said that you installed it by running "apt-get install nvidia-kernel-common" - was that simply a mistake because I mentioned that package before?
06:33<galileo>i did it, maybe i got confused and did both

07:15<ompaul>jemadux: your question does not allow for the fact this is debian - you can import new things to your stable box using debian tools
07:15<ompaul>!stable
07:15<dpkg>[stable] The status of a Debian release when no packages will be added, new versions introduced and changes will only fix security issues and critical bugs. Packages can be removed in rare circumstances. The current stable version of Debian is Wheezy (7.1); ask me about <releases>. Security bugs are fixed in stable by backporting the fix to the stable version (ask me about <security backports>). http://wiki.debian.org/DebianStable

11:54<trico>if your server or client is debian, yeah
11:54<robo_>yep - both are
11:54<GinoMan>that's what the alternatives are for. You shouldn't need JAVA_HOME (and there's no sensible way of doing that system wide)

11:54<robo_>I'm new to NFS, and I'm trying to set up an NFS share that is is readable by anyone (regardless of owner or mode of the files on the server), but which is also read-only
11:55<robo_>so what I've done in my exports file is give the following options: (ro,sync,all_squash,no_subtree_check,anonuid=0,anongid=0)
11:56<robo_>My expectation was that this would make anyone mounting the share access it as 'root', but with read-only access.
11:56<robo_>Unfortunately it isn't working this way...

20:05<IzaaakGoldsmith>retrospectacus, but i use microsoft windows, not debian
20:05<retrospectacus>we only support debian
20:05<IzaaakGoldsmith>why?
20:06<retrospectacus>because.... this is the debian support channel

20:06<IzaaakGoldsmith>but i cant use debian, its worse than windows
20:06<retrospectacus>then why are you here?
20:06<IzaaakGoldsmith>for example, you dont have such wide software in debian like in windows

20:07<IzaaakGoldsmith>also, when u install software with "apt-get" THEY know what you install, in windows microsoft dosent know what software you are using
20:07<retrospectacus>we are not interested in discussing that
20:07<IzaaakGoldsmith>why?
20:07<retrospectacus>this is debian support
20:08<IzaaakGoldsmith>but why do you support something that is uselesS?
20:09<IzaaakGoldsmith>you can't even listen to music on debian properly, as you don't have such great software like Foobar2000
20:09<IzaaakGoldsmith>so how could i use it when i can't listen to music properly
