08:55<SynrG>it is far better to have a reliable process for making a raw disk image that is bootable. then just use 'cp' to image that to the drive, as i said above.

11:05<zathras>NotStallman, SSH is a protocol. Putty can be used as a SSH client. Plenty of websites are availble on SSH hardening
11:05<SynrG>NotStallman: as for how secure your VPS is by default, i can't say.

11:08<SynrG>as i said, the most important thing is to ensure putty is entirely up-to-date

22:50<karen_> O.k. nobody seems to anwer on Puppy or Linux. The Ubuntu guys say my question needs to go else where basically. I have Lucid Puppy on a usb flash drive that is connected to my Dell desktop that has a usb belkin wireless adapter. I can't connect to the internet on Lucid Puppy. I have tried everything down to trying different modules. Do you know anything about that?

22:52<themill>doesn't sound like something for #debian. You really need to talk to the people who made your distribution.

22:52<sney>karen_: sorry, but #debian only supports debian and that's final. if you were running debian live we would be glad to help you.
22:52<themill>Or failing that, try ##linux on irc.freenode.net
22:52<sney>(http://live.debian.net/)
