00:30<themill>krutoileshii: "find /var/lib/dkms/ -name dkms.conf" is a good start
00:32<krutoileshii>themill there are two modules one is Nvidia driver and another one is ctn91xx (Ceton InfiniTV) dkms compiles and builds both just fine
00:33<krutoileshii>both contain the required directive and compile and install with DKMS just fine
00:33<krutoileshii>no other modules exist
00:34<themill>I have a recollection that there's a dkms bug about the order in which modules and headers are installed.
00:34<themill>,bug 651973
00:34<judd>Bug http://bugs.debian.org/651973 in dkms (open): «BUILT_MODULE_NAME[#] required if linux-headers-* is installed/updated after the foo-dkms package»; severity: important; opened: 2011-12-13; last modified: 2013-06-15.

04:20<shagelito>Greetings #debian. Am i at the right place to ask for some grub related problem ? I cant boot debian from that grub ..
04:20<ixi>!ask
04:20<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on debian-user@lists.debian.org. See <smart questions><errors>.
04:25<shagelito>I have a problem for bootng debian from the grub option, since i try to dualboot it; I'm running the latest stable Debian version. When I try to boot, I get a very sober grub screen. There is 2 windows boot options (weird) but no debian choice. I expected it to do give me a choice between Debian & w8.
04:26<jm_>did you check grub.cfg?

10:17<this><this> I need major help. I have been using Linux distros for over 10 years, but ran into an issue in Ubuntu the other day when adding my user to groups. I now understand that Ubuntu has the "root" account locked and wants users to use the "sudo" command for administrative tasks. Unfortuantely, I had no idea that when I added my username to "adm" that it would take me out of the "sudoers" file. I read somewhere that the adm group in Ubuntu i
10:17<this><this> s defunct and just uses the sudo group. I suppose when I added my user to "adm" that it took me out of the sudo group because my account was initially crated as an "Administrator." Unfortuantely, now I am unable to make any changes and with no root account I can't open or save the /etc/sudoers file. I hope this makes sense and hope there is someone out there that can help me get out of this without a re-install. Thank you!

19:08<vook>ok, no $i will be foo.src.net, which will become $aa=foo.src.net. Then in another loop I'd have i=foo.cmd, and $ba=foo.cmd, then I'll compare $aa and $ba, if both exist, output "foo", and loop (to foo1, foo2)

21:49<peterS>ah, never mind. -ltermcap is a linker script pulling in -ltinfo (tinfo meaning 'terminfo'). So. It found /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtermcap.so somehow, and read it, and it pointed to libtinfo.so, but somehow it couldn't find _that_

22:04<peterS>ident is used to report the username of the process making an outbound connection, typically TCP
22:04<peterS>so if you connect to an IRC server, e.g., it shoots back an IDENT query asking your kernel what your username is
22:05<nix>peterS is it spart or need to reject access to 113

22:05<peterS>if you don't want people to get that sort of info (some IRC channels require it, but most do not, they just put the info in your 'whois' results if you provide it, but not if not), then you should just uninstall whatever implementation of identd you installed
