I already installed the package python3-pip, does anyone know what would be the steps needed to get a working pip3 command?

05:24<SynrG>hassofass: huh. ext2 for /boot is default? i had no idea. i gather it's because it is not actively written to and overhead of a journal can be dispensed with.
05:25<SynrG>mind you, if the system goes down in the middle of an upgrade ... i would still prefer a journal there.
05:25<SynrG>how do you get a separate /boot with auto anyway?
05:25<SynrG>i thought auto just did all-in-one, plus swap
05:26<SynrG>recheck your results
05:26<hassofass>it separates boot if you select encryption, I did
05:26<SynrG>i see
05:27<SynrG>on modern disks, the extra overhead of a journal shouldn't be an issue.

05:27<SynrG>the extra reliability of a journalling filesystem is worth it, even for /boot, imho

05:27<hassofass>thanks
05:28<SynrG>it is a record of filesystem transactions

05:29<SynrG>yes
05:29<SynrG>i don't know what auto does there
05:30<rmrfchik>weied. I've stopped autofs by
05:30<rmrfchik>invoke-rc.d autofs stop
05:30<hassofass>it was 256 MB for /boot i think, but I'm not sure
05:31<SynrG>that's plenty
05:31<rmrfchik>I noticed /net/server/dir was still mounted, so I tried to umount it
05:31<rmrfchik>now, "unmount /path" hangs in kernel, and "invoke-rc.d autofs start" also is freezed

05:37<babilen>SynrG: Saw people having upgrades because they ran into ENOSPC during an upgrade, but a bit more space for /boot wouldn't hurt as well. I don't really consider the automatically chosen sizes to be acceptable these days.

13:13<planetmaker>difference?
13:13<SynrG>!kfreebsd
13:13<dpkg>Debian GNU/kFreeBSD is a port that consists of GNU userland using the GNU C library on top of FreeBSD's kernel, coupled with the regular Debian package set. kfreebsd-amd64 and kfreebsd-i386 parallel with stable since Debian 7 "Wheezy". 13:13<planetmaker>difference is none except the kernel is what I read from that webpage
13:14<Tron>valdyn so everything looks and works the same i know alot of people think that linux and unix are the same thing but there not you know so is the kfreebsd good
13:14<SynrG>especially "why", linked from that FAQ
13:14<valdyn>planetmaker: i was talking about the difference between debian/kfreebsd and freebsd. that is "everything but the kernel"
13:14<SynrG>https://wiki.debian.org/Debian_GNU/kFreeBSD_why
13:15<Tron>i think i am going to give it a try just really interested in it

13:16<valdyn>Tron: basically theres no point in kfreebsd over (common) debian unless you need a freebsd kernel feature not provided by linux
13:16<Tron>valdyn now on my debian wheezy i use the debian backports can i also with kfreebsd ?
13:16<valdyn>Tron: probably, I don't know
13:17<Tron>valdyn i guess one reason i am wanting to try it is due to a problem that i am haveing with wheezy i dont know if it is a bad download of what and i was thinking if i am going to be wipeing out the OS why not you know
13:18<Tron>valdyn personal i am just getting sick of trying to find out what is going on with it
13:18<valdyn>Tron: an actual reason to use kfreebsd is zfs support
13:19<Tron>valdyn zfs ?
13:19<SynrG>Tron: is your problem (or do you suspect your problem may be) a kernel issue?
13:19<valdyn>Tron: but switching because of "a problem" is almost like no reason at all to me
13:19<SynrG>Tron: if the answer to that is "no", then you don't want kfreebsd. if the answer is "i don't know" then you *probably* don't want kfreebsd.

13:20<SynrG>Tron: if the answer is "yes", then depending on the nature of the problem, you might still not be better off with kfreebsd. but we can't advise unless we know what your problem is.
13:21<SynrG>moving from a current (maybe broken?) install of wheezy with some unknown issue to a less-well-supported-by-us kernel seems like a move *away* from getting good support, not towards.
13:21<Tron>synrg i dont know really what is up with my OS i done two freash installs of wheezy yesterday and i went to download and install the package harden and i couldnt install it due to it say somthing about i had broken packages no one in here was able to tell me what was going on from the error message they just said after i told them the error message they needed the real error message
13:21<bremner>oh. _You_ don't want kfreebsd.

19:44<SynrG>so you have broken DNS now. great
19:44<SynrG>fix your broken DNS, then continue
19:44<tron>synrg what it is saying is that it looks to me as if it cannot access the debian repository for that aplication
19:44<tron>synrg i can install anything else without problem
19:44<SynrG>it looks like it can't resolve the *name* to the repository
19:44<SynrG>it's not a debian problem.
19:45<SynrG>i mean, it's not a problem from the debian server's perspective.
19:45<tron>synrg i think i found the problem
19:45<SynrG>but a problem with your system.

19:46<DNS>SynrG: i am always broken at the end of a month
19:46<tron>synrg see i have to networks in my house the one the linux box on when out
19:46<DNS>:p
19:47<SynrG>DNS: possibly because of your unfortunate choice of nick? people are always breaking you

19:53<SynrG>tron: good. but to get help in future we need to solve the paste problem.
19:54<SynrG>tron: it is unkind to yourself and to the helpers to try to do it the way you've been doing it :p
19:54<SynrG>it just makes us all cranky at each other
19:54<tron>synrg with all due respect i dont use irc and i didnt know that it would cut off all but three lines and no one told me that untill tonight
19:54<SynrG>ok

22:43<amdp>update-rc.d: warning: default stop runlevel arguments (0 1 6) do not match teamspeak Default-Stop values (S 0 1 6) -- what does this mean?
22:43<sney>!warning
22:43<dpkg>Yerp, lots of software outputs warnings. Kernel module warnings on boot, mplayer warnings, GTK warnings, X11 warnings, build warnings, gpg warnings. Don't be scared - informative output is a GOOD THING. Consider yourself warned, and if the program works as expected, be happy.

22:44<sney>specifically, it means that part of the initscript wasn't formatted as insserv expected it to be. but it's probably okay unless there's actually a problem with it starting/stopping.
22:45<amdp>hmmm
22:45<amdp>so I should try to reboot and see if it starts anyway?
22:45<sney>if you want. I wouldn't worry about it.
22:45<amdp>this is the init
