00:44<sketchh>so it's almost like using rufus or something
00:45<sketchh>just loads it automatically?
00:45<nexutix>you can download ISO and then burn point to iso. or you can select distro and it downloads it for you and automatically creates USB
00:46<themill>actually, don't use unetbootin
00:46<themill>!win32diskimager
00:46<dpkg>win32diskimager is much more reliable than <unetbootin> for copying ISO images to USB sticks. (But if you have linux already, then you don't need either; ask me about <usb install>).

01:10<larkw>themill: Search package directories: for example, search "linux-image" in any release, you should get 3.11 or above for testing
01:11<themill>larkw: perhaps read the actual output a bit more and then filter the results by the architecture you're actually interested in
01:12<larkw>themill: I am sure you didn't try it yourself :(
01:12*themill did

01:13<themill>larkw: it doesn't tell you that the package does not exist. It's not missing results. It tells you in a big yellow box «Your keyword was too generic. Please consider using a longer keyword or more keywords.»
01:13<larkw>themill: http://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=linux-image&searchon=names&suite=testing§ion=all
01:13<themill>yes
01:13<jm_>glad I didn't have to type that long line themill just did :)
01:15<larkw>themill: that is the problem, dont you think? If you search in distribution "any", you get a lot of result; you search in specific "testing", you should get a subset of the result.
01:15<larkw>but you get nothing

06:33<brahman>So I would like to configure a new interface to use the usb card. (am assuming network manager configured the pci card)
06:33<babilen>brahman: Ack, thanks. Might help to see the lspci output too, but I'll have to work on something else for a while now.
06:33<babilen>(sorry)
06:33<brahman>k. no probs.
06:34<brahman>My question is how do I configure wlan1 to use the usb device specifically?
06:34<jm_>for regular cards one can do that via /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules, no idea if this works for wlan stuff
06:34<gsimmons>brahman: So, the USB device has no interface created for it. The output of a paste with "lsusb" output would be useful.
06:35<gsimmons>"readlink /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/driver" should confirm the driver that interface is using.
06:35<jm_>also, for regular stuff one can find the driver via ls -l /sys/class/net/*/device/driver
06:35<jm_>:)
06:36<petn-randall>brahman: I'm guessing you're missing firmware for the USB wifi.
06:36<brahman>gsimmons: http://paste.debian.net/69483/
06:37<brahman>gsimmons: thanks for the wlan0/device/driver bit. nice way to check. :)

17:05<Kenneth2>Hi, i have a question reguarding language translations. Does any ubuntu translations find its way back to debian?
17:06<sney>that's a good question. I would think probably, but the flow of information in that direction is sparse
17:06<valdyn>Kenneth2: probably from ubuntu > upstream > debian
17:07<valdyn>Kenneth2: in any case ubuntu probably has zero interest in maintaining translations themselves so they would want it upstream
