---Logopened Mon Dec 23 00:00:46 2013
00:01<raidensnake>that's the thing i'm struggling with sibce i know very little about UEFI. apart from it's a pain in the arse to work with.
00:01<derpsauce>If I select the printer (socket://192.168.1.1:9100) I get options to change the description, the location, and a checkbox to share it

00:02<sney>raidensnake, yeah, it's kind of broken on a lot of motherboards too, where grub/syslinux won't work with it properly

00:03<sney>the only thing I'll suggest is to ditch your live-making tool and write the livecd iso directly to your usb drive, since iirc they are hybrid images just like the installer

00:05<raidensnake>what about booting using uefi?
00:05-!-birch [~reca@dhcp-187-39.gjk.dk] has joined #debian
00:06<raidensnake>that's the main problem.
00:06<sney>it's the bootloader's problem. last I checked, the debian-live team had it on lockdown. but might not carry over when you mess around with the image.

00:08-!-user__ [~user@195.110.7.158] has left #debian []
00:09<raidensnake>the problem is my zystem is locked to it
00:09<sney>secure boot is basically unsupported clear across the linux universe.
00:09<sney>I remember hearing about a way to chainload syslinux or grub from the windows boot manager... that might be an option for you. never tried it though so google would be your best resource

00:10<raidensnake>well i did find a bootia32.efi file in the windows/boot folder
00:11<sney>secure boot will be looking for signatures, though, which adds a whole nother layer of pain
00:12<raidensnake>i noticed.

00:19<derpsauce>but ia32-libs is depreciated in wheezy. the workaround was to use the proper multi-arch support
00:21<sney>yeah, that's what I would try. it would at least get you a libc6 for the dependency
00:21<raidensnake>i had that problem loading teamviewer.

00:34<sney>derpsauce, well, multiarch is what you should have done to satisfy those dependencies in the first place. but I highly doubt there's much arch-specific in a printer driver
00:34-!-defyus [~defyus@108-213-121-135.lightspeed.miamfl.sbcglobal.net] has left #debian []
00:34<derpsauce>sorry i phrased that obliquely. I mean the 32-bit version of libc6
00:35<sney>potentially. give it a shot.
00:35<derpsauce>lol 686 optimized
00:35<sney>(but I doubt it for reasons stated previously)
00:36<sney>686 encompasses everything from P2 through when intel finally caved and went x86_64. it's not just crusty SECC2 optimized. :P
00:36<derpsauce>basically for multiarch I ran "dpkg --add-architecture i386" and "apt-get update"
00:38<derpsauce>huh installing libc6-i386 requires removing the two driver packages
