00:02<dell_pe1850>Hello everyone! Happy New Year! Anyone familiar with using ipmitool and isol on a dell 1850?
00:03<dell_pe1850>I am using gnome-terminal and going to use the isol (configured for "ansi"), but want to know the best TERM= setting to use to get ansi emulation with maximum ansi graphics support too?
00:03<dell_pe1850>any ideas?

00:29<SamB>dell_pe1850: you're like a day late with that "happy new year" you know ...
00:30*SamB doesn't think he's heard of those tools though ...
00:31<dell_pe1850>According to Einstein time is different for everyone, so, it is possible that your private time is a day behind if you are moving at the right speed.
00:31<dell_pe1850>that said, I am using VT220 now
00:31<dell_pe1850>and getting proper graphics with gnome-terminal
00:32<SamB>well, okay, I've heard of gnome-terminal; was that part separate from the other part(s)?

06:16<Phuzzy>i know that a task is essentially a metapackage, and i know that the dependencies between them are controlled by a file in /usr/share-land... but there are far more tasks listed in that file than what i see on a tasksel --list-tasks

06:44<ChALkeR>The question is: why doesn't qt5 ( use system-wide harfbuzz ( package?
06:44<Phuzzy>that command... aptitude show task-web-server will show me the PACKAGES that task-web-server would install

06:47<ompaul>Phuzzy: so you want to know why this: cat debian-task.desc | grep -i task- <<< note the trailing dash, if it isn't self evident after that I'll tell you
06:49<ompaul>Phuzzy: your question didn't direct me very well initially - I'm putting it down to the general bug everyone around here is slowly being consumed by :)
06:49<Phuzzy>np thats why i keep trying to clarify :)
06:50<ompaul>Phuzzy: I take it you laughed when you worked out why you don't see them all
06:50<Phuzzy>so in as simple terms as i can make it.... why does grep "^Task:" debian-task.dsc | wc -l not equal tasksel --list-tasks | wc -l
06:51<ompaul>Phuzzy: I told you to run cat on it, seriously you'll get a good giggle when it dawns on you
06:51<ompaul>and note the trailing -
06:51<ompaul>cat debian-task.desc | grep -i task-

13:34<SynrG>which package "owns" this?
13:34<SynrG>(dpkg -S will answer that question)
13:34<enapupe>diversion by glx-diversions from: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/[NEWLINEdiversion by glx-diversions to: /usr/lib/mesa-diverted/x86_64-linux-gnu/

13:35<enapupe>dpkg: error: --purge needs a valid package name but 'libgl1-mesa-glx' is not: ambiguous package name 'libgl1-mesa-glx' with more than one installed instance

13:36<SynrG>suffix it with :amd64

20:48<sney>Nikon_, there is no way you don't have acpi in a standard debian kernel
20:48<Nikon_>cpu frequency scaling
20:48<MrFrood>enapupe_: if anything debian is easier if only because of the excellent support options irc/mail list/forums etc
20:48-!-DLange [] has joined #debian
20:48<sney>you have that, too
20:48-!-stormy98_ [~paul@] has joined #debian
20:49<Nikon_>alright, how do i add acpi modules?
20:49<enapupe_>MrFrood: agreed
20:49<sney>enapupe_, you can do whatever you want, but apt is apt, and your problem is fixable. just let it remove those packages, get apt back to a point where it says 0 upgraded 0 removed etc, then upgrade to jessie
