00:02<twb>Long, long ago, pkzip and winzip had some kind of weaksauce encryption. Do the zip/unzip in main support that?

01:09<guilherme>honestly I do not have experience with any of those solutions
01:10<themill>Which one is easiest depends on what sort of command line you need and what you need to do with the output
01:11<guilherme>The input is just numbers and the output are files, but the program will handle it, the terminal does not need to worry about it
01:14<themill>guilherme: just one number on the command line? or a different filename for each invocation?

01:41<themill>It's definitely easier if these parameters go into an input file and you process the jobs one-per-file. You could fiddle with record separators in xargs to make the jobs from a three-column input but it's a bit of a faff or use pexec as jm_ suggested which an also do jobs from lines

05:40<Nirgal>dhcpd.conf I mean of course
05:42<babilen>debianer_: Yeah, use a specific file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ (you'd have to create that) for your touchpad configuration rather than a complete xorg.conf -- See <empty xorg.conf> and <xorg.conf.d> for details -- "/msg dpkg empty xorg.conf" -- Which touchpad do you have?
05:42<TobiX>Nirgal: You probably need some kind of hack, since ifupdown does not know anything about dependencies between interfaces...

07:31<jm_>debianer_: I am pretty sure they are native speakers of some language :)
07:32<debianer_>maybe but that doesn't help in the case of a manual in english
07:32<debianer_>it's impossible to find out how to emulate a left double click
07:32<jm_>I am sure contributions are welcome if you can help improve it
07:33<debianer_>manuals are not supposed to exist for contributions...
07:33<debianer_>otherwise they would be a total failure

07:40<themill>dpkg: tell debianer_ about reportbug
07:40<bernat>debianer_: how is that useful here?
07:40<debianer_>at least TapButton1 = 1 works
07:41<debianer_>bernat, i'm trying to emulate a left double tapping
07:41<debianer_>but i get only a single left tapping with TapButton1 = 1
07:42<debianer_>and after reading the manual, i still have no idea what option would set a double tapping
07:43<themill>maybe you could start by explaining what you actually mean
07:43<jm_>9s)he wants double tap to be interpreted as left click
07:44<jm_>left button*
07:46<debianer_>themill, it doesn't seem to be a bug. Just some hidden option that needs to be set.
07:46<themill>doubt that's possible; you might be able to make it into two (single) left clicks by cranking down the timeout
07:46<themill>debianer_: considering I still don't think we understand what you want...
07:49<themill>(given jm_ and I have completely opposite interpretations of what you are asking…)
07:49<debianer_>i think it's exactly that... but how do i make it as two single left clicks? i have no idea how to use the timeout, although i reduced it as suggested in the manual

15:51<pcfreak30>https://wiki.debian.org/rtl819x, rtl8192ce
15:52<pcfreak30>Can I get an explanation as to why this isn't applying to me?
15:52<sney>pcfreak30: the distinction is that the firmware is included with the linux kernel, but that doesn't match with debian's policy because the source isn't available. so debian packages the firmware files separately, in non-free. ubuntu and mint do not care about such things

15:52<pcfreak30>sney, I understand that. I was thinking the fw that applied to me was not closed-source considering debian lists drivers for my chipset.
15:53<sney>the driver isn't closed-source, but the driver won't do much without the firmware.

19:58<oldlaptop>thereby screwing up port forwarding configuration?
19:58<qaffee>that was my initial thought as well
19:58<qaffee>but then how does it change it back to the old one on yet another restart?
19:58<oldlaptop>probably because the router assigned it again :P
19:59<qaffee>ah so it just shuffles the ip between two ips.
19:59<oldlaptop>that might be what's happening, yes
20:00<oldlaptop>no idea how different dhcps behave in that respect, myself
20:00<qaffee>in which case it's not really a big problem, since we can just restart twice if need be, right? Besides, once we're sure all our server services work we really don't restart it anymore.
20:00<oldlaptop>or what dhcpd you happen to be fighting with :P
20:00<oldlaptop>Well. A better option would be a static IP
20:00<oldlaptop>just find out what the DHCP pool is, and assign it something outside that (but still in the same subnet)
20:01<rasmuoy>a reserved IP on the DHCP would be just as good...
20:01<oldlaptop>oh, you can do that?
20:01<oldlaptop>that would work too then

20:03<oldlaptop>certainly if Westell 7500 does it, I don't know about it :P

20:07<rasmuoy>yeah, those are much harder to work with. and the DHCP can be a massive hassle. But your ISP might let you bridge it
20:07<oldlaptop>which would allow me to use a real computer as a router :P

20:08<qaffee>So I'm guessing it's our ISP, since they did recommend me to order a static IP. But Seshmaru said it's not needed since we get the static IP we already have straight from the router.
20:08<qaffee>Going to call them tomorrow, anyway, thanks guys for all the help.
20:08<oldlaptop>Not from the ISP
20:08<oldlaptop>a static *private* ISP
20:09<oldlaptop>as opposed to a private IP assigned by the router
20:09<rasmuoy>^
20:09<qaffee>exactly
20:09<rasmuoy>you'll need either a static IP or a dynamic DNS service like No-IP
20:09<oldlaptop>that too
20:10<oldlaptop>a static *private* IP I meant
20:10<oldlaptop>certainly you need a static IP on the outside
20:10<qaffee>yea we're not going with middle-man dns, static ip is what we want.
20:10<qaffee>which is exactly why I'm going to order it tomorrow hehe
