00:46<somiaj>Kulesh: what version of debian do you run?
00:46<Kulesh>Linux Antares 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.54-2 x86_64 GNU/Linux
00:47<somiaj>,v wine-unstable
00:47<judd>Package: wine-unstable on i386 -- sid: 1.7.15-1
00:47<somiaj>,v wine
00:47<judd>Package: wine on i386 -- squeeze: 1.0.1-3.1; wheezy: 1.4.1-4; jessie: 1.6.2-8; sid: 1.6.2-8
00:47<somiaj>Kulesh: you can get version 1.4 in wheezy fairly easy. You have to first enable multiarch (have you done that)? and then apt-get install wine. If you need something newer than wine 1.4 you will have to compile it yourself.

03:18<Disconsented>Hi everyone ^-^. So I recently installed debian on my laptop, however when I try to boot it up the onlything that I can notice is the text "loading grub" then the laptop restarts. It looks like I need to reinstall grub however I appear to be failing horribly at it, what is the best way to install it without wiping the laptop? (however it is an option if push comes to shove)

07:21<SynrG>honestly, i don't know much about capabilities yet, myself. something to study more about :)
07:22<Cacatoes>I've also found infos which are related to my session manager (slim), there might has to do with it

07:22*SynrG nods
07:22<SynrG>i think lightdm is more solid than slim
07:23<SynrG>slim has had an awful security / bug track record ...
07:23<SynrG>lightdm is the default *dm for both lxde and xfce ...
07:23<Cacatoes>using i3, slim was a bit more simple to set up for me (autologin...)
07:23<SynrG>not that changing it would magically solve your problem. but it's something that, quite aside from the current problem you should consider.
07:24<Cacatoes>yep, will do, I don't even need slim, though if I can keep it it's good too

11:01<somiaj>boodie: but to your question, if you have no mention of using the driver 'nvidia' in your xorg.conf file, xorg will not use the non-free nvidia drivers. So upgrading the nvidia-kernel-dkms package will not really effect you in anyways. But if you are choosing to not use nvidia nonfree drivers, I would remove the packages you don't need.
11:02<boodie>Well, I have backports, I don't know which packages are affected, e.g. nvidia-kernel-dkms

13:00<SynrG>boodie: also after each change, make sure you 'apt-get update' (or equivalent in the tool of your choice)
13:00<boodie>by removing them one by one in aptitude

13:01<SynrG>gotcha. i was unclear on that. :)
13:01<boodie>ok ...
13:01<SynrG>boodie: higher priority packages with deps on those backports versions may be bringing them back.

13:05<SynrG>your policy output shows that wheezy-backports has a lower priority (as it should). that's good. so normally you would have to specify "apt-get -t wheezy-backports" to install from it. but all bets are off if a higher priority package depends on something you wnt to remove. see?

18:48<emilio090713>I am running Wheezy, XFCE desktop and am not able to copy and paste images from XFCE to CITRIX ICA published application. This works when using another OS so its not an issue with Citrix. I am new to Linux, havent tried with Gnome, just wondering what im missing. Thanks!

18:50<devil>emilio090713: what is a CITRIX ICA published applicatio
18:51<petn-randall>emilio090713: In my experience Citrix on Linux is something I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole. Also, just because it runs fine on windows doesn't mean the application is fine under Linux, since those are two different applications.
18:51<emilio090713>devil: Citrix is a virtual desktop environment. Applications are published from a coorporate server. In theory its just a windows remote desktop connection, just a bit more secure.
18:52<emilio090713>yea, everything more or less runs fine, just copy and past of images thats not working. I have to use it for work so either need to find a way around this or use Windows. Just moved to linux in a dual boot environment and would love to use it all the time :-)

18:54<petn-randall>emilio090713: I always had several seconds lag, copy/paste never worked and the keyboard layout was fscked up beyond repair. I'd avoid it at all costs.
18:54<emilio090713>Thanks petn, I do notice some lag once in a while as well
18:56<petn-randall>emilio090713: I had to use it at work a few times for some customer-related jobs. I ended up installing it in a Windows VM and using it from there.

It seems like everything builds okay but lintian throws an error 'internal error: could not find the source tarball at /usr/share/lintian/lib/Lintian/Util.pm line 967'. Do I need an upstream '.orig' tarball to use git source control?
