03:09<yesitscrash1>wigirc: Yes, but I think I just realized where the problem may be. I think I have an older version of firmware files than my distribution. I'm going to check that out after I get a chance to reboot and try to installer again. If it works, I'll probably take several hours installing, so I won't be back to report on success. If it fails, I'll be back soon enough to explore more options.

Now "aptitude update/safe-upgrade" wants me to install the repo version again. why this? don't they compare the package

17:24<MrMills>Is this even working ? can people see me typing ?
17:25<zykotick9>MrMills: i must say, i was surprised my system has a ~/.fontconfig folder as well, i thought it was gonna be a Gnome thing - but obviously, it's more then that. I have no idea what it is, but i'd agree on the cache part ;) enjoy debian.

17:53<Mr_Mills>like if the code is open and only shows things from open source .
17:53<Mr_Mills>aka the store is open and so is the code what is wrong with that ?
17:54<planetmaker>Mr_Mills, if it's open source software according to OSI, then you can simply move forward and go packaging and maintaining it such that it becomes part of debian
17:54<Mr_Mills>planetmaker I will google OSI
17:56<Mr_Mills>planetmaker I am not talking about buying things buy store I meant software collection
17:56<planetmaker>https://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines
17:57<planetmaker>if it's free and open source, just start creating and mainting that software as debian package

I217-LM (PCI ID 8086:153a) and I217-V (PCI ID 8086:153b) are supported by the <e1000e> driver since Linux 3.5 and in Debian 7 "Wheezy" since the <7.5> point release (bug #705959).

23:39<sney>!debtags
23:39<dpkg>debtags is probably a way of categorising packages with tags (facets) that describe how a package can be used, what data it can read/write, what interfaces it has etc. This adds another dimension to package searching. Install the debtags package, then search either using "debtags" or "aptitude". Search (or add new tags) at http://debtags.debian.net/ . See also http://wiki.debian.org/Debtags or ask me about <aptitude search>.
