01:14<twb>Thanks
01:15<twb>I'm idly trying to work out which package is asking for /proc/self/exe in http://sprunge.us/ESTK
01:16<twb>The thing stunnel4 does before invoke-rc.d is adduser and some chowns -- which doesn't sound like the culprit
01:17-!-pamaury [~quassel@sphinx.lix.polytechnique.fr] has joined #debian
01:17<twb>I guess that could all be an artefact of stdout buffering -- the readlinks are actually coming from the initramfs trigger that appears below
01:17<themill>unless the output of stderr and stdout aren't interleaved properly, it certainly looks like stunnel4
01:17<themill>*snap*
01:18<twb>In which case I can stop caring because I've already satisfied myself the initramfs attempt is harmless

01:21<twb>But normal programs just look at argv[0] or have that stuff hard-coded at compile time, or ld takes care of it for them

02:28<skkdkk>Hey, i use Xen with debian. i installed Xen through the package manager folowing this page "https://wiki.debian.org/Xen". If i do an apt-get dist-upgrade on my dom0, it will upgrade the kernel, will this break my domUs?

02:32<twb>Surely xen domu's don't care if the dom0 kernel changes -- only if the whatchamacallit, the hypervisor, changes?
02:34<mpourhadi>i installed a few fonts in /usr/share/fonts it messed up my iceweasel i remove that folder and replace it with a live user fonts from cd iceweasel fixed but now i have system font error how can i fix it?

02:36<twb>You should probably put fonts in ~/.fonts rather than /usr/share/fonts.

02:41<twb>Do they look messy for all apps, or just iceweasel?
02:41<skkdkk>twb: the list of packages to be upgraded included xen-linux-system-amd64, will that be the hypervisor?
02:41-!-Asiajey [~quassel@93.84.54.154] has joined #debian
02:41<twb>skkdkk: I don't know, sorry.
02:42<twb>skkdkk: looks like xen-system-amd64 is the hypervisor, you're citing a metapackage that ensures you have both a hypervisor and a compatible dom0 (I think).
02:42<mpourhadi>twb, its messy for all the system wide
02:43<twb>mpourhadi: OK, what does this say? "LC_ALL=C fc-match Sans"
02:44<mpourhadi>twb, arial narrow
02:44<twb>OK what about Serif and Monospace?
02:45<skkdkk>do you know of a Xen related irc channel?
02:45<mpourhadi>twb, for serif is "Nimbus Roman No9 L" "Regular" and for Monospace is "Nimbus Mono L" "Regular"
02:45<twb>skkdkk: I don't, but try /list or /msg alis help -- try freenode as well as oftc

02:47<BlackDeath666>yes a few minutes from not typing.
02:47<twb>OK that sounds like the screensaver.
02:47<twb>If you are using mplayer and xscreensaver, you can put "stop-xscreensaver=yes" in ~/.mplayer/config. I don't know about option players/screensavers.
02:47<BlackDeath666>i tried everything. reading forums could not get it to stop. Very annoying.

13:13<retrospectacus>chris__: you seem to be confusing forced removal due to removing dependency, with automatic removal due to "no longer needed".

13:19<retrospectacus>for some reason in the past, network-manager-gnome (e.g.) was installed. Probably coz you installed "gnome" or "gnome-core". You recently removed, say, totem, which means the meta-package gnome-core was removed too as it depended on totem. Now network-manager-gnome and those others can be automatically removed, since they were only installed to satisfy gnome-core, which is now gone
13:21<retrospectacus>you have to "unmark auto" network-manager-gnome and whatever else you want to keep. "apt-mark manual network-manager-gnome etc."
